@@craveboost24him and the real OG, David Buschur. I’d like to see him get involved on the channel or to use some of his parts. Imo he makes the best sounding exhaust for the evo period.
At first I was like dam these guys drove 2 days just to get a turbo and a tune but now I see why, he looks like a great guy even just to hang around with
This channel, speed academy, Rob Dahm and MCM have the same thing in common, the laughs are so relatable to what we share with friends that's pure joy to watch this videos.
Speed academy is so underrated and LSC is one of my favorites too but E39M5Restorations might be closest to my heart. MCM is awesome too i love all of them, their humor, hard work and interesting projects. Shout out to all of the people behind the cameras too the production is crazy on these channels. Camera angles, lighting, editing, sound quality, it's all amazing.
@@dildodickings2668 totally agree with LSC, difference for me is content wise, LSC is super different that's why i didn't mention that guys, but I've been following LSC for over 3 years so far, G&G for over 6y
3rd comment: Power draw issues- turn the car off, (take the key out) and go across EVERY SINGLE fuse location (Take the fuse out, set your meter to amps) in both the engine bay and the footwell with a multimeter, one at a time. I've seen ABS pumps all the way to bluetooth systems drawing amps while the car is off. It seems daunting until you start narrowing it down. Good luck!
i recommend adding a pressure sensor for the coolant to prevent this head lifting from turning into something catastrophic. but man, watching Ron work is humbling !
You guys are my hero's. Not the typical RU-vid channel like "look what i can buy or build with 100000 dollar" You build your Car like a "normal" car guy would do and most importent like you want it to. Can't stand the RU-vid Channel anymore that build the Cars just for clicks 100% 👍👍👍👍👍👍 Go on we love it!!!!
Ben, that is why cars have gears. In what universe do you drive a car and not downshift for hills? Try driving a small displacement NA 4 cylinder and see what happens. Hey I get turbo lag sucks but its a side effect of a small engine big turbo. Not sure what you expected.
It prob destroyed that head gasket on the drive up BC it was in 4th gear pedal to the floor knocking on 93 octane with that agressive timing map. I noticed you put 93 in it all the way across the country. Which would have been fine. However you had it pedal to the floor with High gear high load low rpm on 93 octane and a terrible tune with timing too advance down low. Guarantee it.
With the battery in the trunk you should really get an agm "platinum". Those flooded batteries could off gas. As far as I understand gold and below are all unsealed flooded lead acids.
@@swecreations I like having lithiums in my rcs but not sold on one in a car unless its an ev. Thermal runaway outside its voltage range is a real thing. For as limited as a lead acid is in its operation I'd rather go that route than micromanage for a thermal runaway event. That's not counting evs as they have sophisticated microchips to do what most humans can't keep a 24 hour eye on. But I'm not even close to being an expert. Just lazy.
@@Fyxxterzc Like 99% of Lithium 12v batteries are LiFePo4 and are quite literally more stable than a lead acid battery, thermal runaway is extremely unlikely if not impossible with these batteries. Even if you punch a hole in them and light them on fire they won't explode. You're talking about lithium polymer/lithium ion batteries, and these are pretty much not used except for 12v batteries for racecars like the ones made by antigravity batteries.
Damn. Sucks about the possible head gasket issue. But Hopefully you add the mivec back to the exhaust cam. I thought you mentioned in a previous build it was deleted. Should help with the power band.
Watching the road trip montage up to RS motors is so painful. I'm fairly certain my outback could get better fuel economy while towing this Evo. I'm pretty sure it could do better up that hill too
It is an old engine which hasn’t exactly seen the best maintenance so a head gasket failure doesn’t sound like a stretch. Better discovered now than later.
Yeah the evos can handle more power than a Subaru but I still wouldn’t call them reliable. Wrx’s are great daily’s in the 300whp range but past that you’ll need a built block. Good luck with this build; it’s an in-line so not as much of a pain to rebuild as a boxer
Please could you do a few pulls and other scenarios during a drive watching the turbo speed sensor? I've forever been curious about how a turbo acts under dump ect
A 3582 isnt going to spool like a mhi-18k will. Going to sacrifice spool for the harder hit up top. Turbo seems unnecessary for the application so excited to see what the new turbo can do drivability wise. 4b11t is a plenty capable motor but as with anything in the industry, its pay to play. Car has changed hands a few times and obviously since Bens purchase, it needs some tlc and some things buttoned up before its ready to shine.
my fuel economy with my evo x is 9.8-12mpg. worst thing about it: turning radius fuel tank capacity gearing. It should have been a 6 speed in the manual.
What’s that I hear ??? Fully forged boosted 700bhp k swap ??? Gets way to make it safe lol That’s bad news on the head. Hope there is nothing else bad found when it comes apart
I Have the same issue with turbo lag. I have a scion tc. fully build engine and turbonetics turbo was also rebuilt when engine got work done. We did go with lower compression and had no issue with lag before. Now.... i have to rev the engine to 4k rpm to start making power :( spent so much money and I don't even like it how it drives now. Turbo is not big at all. i think mine is 54/56 64ar?
I was in the same situation like him, modifying JDM cars a lot and turn out to be waste of money for the driving experience gained. Since I drive Audi S3 8v with just stage 2 and I'm super happy with it
I began to wonder the mivec system turned off, laggy turbo setup all in the name sake keeping the engine holding together by previous owner to sell the car without any suspicion... 🤭😅
So..I know you guys aren't in to this, but how would this car do in some 50-150 Mexico runs? Only reason I ask is because it makes a tad more power than my full NA C6Z, and I just wonder how it would compare in some highway rolls. Maybe see if you can get your hands on a draggy for a 60-130 time?
