The new language school at Upington in the Northern Cape has been stripped and vandalised, in what has been described as a blow to the revival of this ancient language. Only one living person is left who can speak the language fluently, Katriena Esau. The language is listed as critically endangered by Unesco and was once thought to be extinct.
SABC senior reporter, Ulrich Hendriks and video journalist Thapelo Kgomotshwane filed this report.
