Running the Upper Lehigh River at 840 cfs with a great group of fellow Veterans... Team River Runner. Once again my Sea Eagle Explorer 300X was outstanding, even if the operator wasn't!

Wonderful that you are giving more service to those who need you. What happened that you rolled. Let us all know

We were just practicing how to re-enter the flow from an eddy. I didn't paddle far enough out before my pivot and then leaned the wrong way and dumped! It was fast water at the beginning of a rapid so I just had to ride it out until I got to the end.

What are the straps called that go over your legs and hold you in the kyack in white water?
@bertsadventures9974
@bertsadventures9974 2 года назад
They are thigh straps from NRS.com

Thank you, Bert, for making this video! There is no better testimony as to what Team River Runner is and does than to experience paddling the river as you have experienced and shared with us here. I am very proud of all the participants who did what it takes to feel that exhilaration which can’t be compared or duplicated anywhere else ~ and especially for your diligence in videoing and narrating along the way.

Thanks Rita! They're a great group of guys and an awesome organization. I'm honored to have been able to join them, and hope it isn't the last time.

Another good video Bert. The comments and replies on this thread are also valuable as I am trying to decide between the 300X and the 380X (we already have a 420X). I think I am now leaning towards the 300X and installing thigh strap D rings. I have also seen a Montana Matt video on the Sea Eagle site. He has float bags under the bow and stern covers. I have asked Sea Eagle if they sell these but have not gotten a response. I would like a set of those for larger white water.

DI D you lose your ctug we it the roll?
@bertsadventures9974
@bertsadventures9974 3 года назад
Ha! No, I don't take the C-tugg with me on whitewater runs. The less in the boat the better.

Hey Bert, What thigh straps are you using with your kayak? Are they the Sea Eagle ones, or a different brand? I'm thinking about getting the NRS with my Sea Eagle 300x

I use the NRS straps. They work better in the 300X than they do in the 380X because of the D Ring locations, but you can add additional D Rings where you need them.

Thanks for sharing your adventure. That was a great video, watched the entire thing. Have you ever paddled in the Sea Eagle 380x in whitewater and if so your thoughts on that boat? Thanks, Rob

Hey Rob... check out my video on the Ohiopyle in my 380X, but don't be concerned. The problems with that trip were purely operator error. The 380X is great in whitewater also, but not quite as nimble as the 300X due to the size.

@@bertsadventures9974 Bert , I just watched the video! Wow, that is one experience I bet you’ll never forget. Question about the 380x you were in. It seems like it holds a ton of water. Do you think the 16 drain system works adequately? Are u constantly sitting in water with those particular seats when you are typically doing whitewater not quite as turbulent as this river? I have heard some people complain about the drainage on this boat so I wanted to get your opinion. When I watched the video of you in the 300x on the O. Loop run that boat didn’t seem to hold nearly as much water as the 380x. Your thoughts? Thanks, Rob
