This is one of the matchups I lose a lot and why I avoid spoons as a giga. Thanks for explaining the ins & outs, I definitely need to be better at utilizing giga sprint turning mid fight. Encountered many spoons who counter me by retaining ambush, turning around as I run through and simply riding my behind and it feels like there's nothing I can do to shake them off nor escape. Keep up the great entertainment!
I really need to try this game, but enjoy just watching these videos. I'm not the best gamer but it looks like a lot of fun. But keep up the great work your videos are very entertaining.
A large portion of the video has nothing to do wg0 with other players. Also, not every fight has to be a fair 1v1! A lot of fights take place from a place of ambush. Do try the game, I say!
Most of the game is just growing your Dino unless you're on a server where you can buy a grow. Obviously it's not entertaining to watch (or play lmao) so he doesn't show that side of the game
I love the game but if you're used to fast paced games with challenges/objectives this will be very slow for you. A lot of the game (especially on a 5.5hour giga grow) is spent quickly hunting for food/water and then finding a bush to hide in. Repeat lol.
Spino has a counter to turning gigas as well although it's a bit hard to do and it's debatable whether it's a bug or not. Basically while running with ambush speed you keep your finger on the sprint key and tap forward multiple times in quick successions while looking in the direction you want to turn. By doing that you'll turn almost as well as if you were walking all while keeping your ambush speed since you didn't let go of your sprint key.
Even without that spino can still win the fight when they stand still unless bad hit reg just keep biting and do good angle.but still the thing u explain the best way to end geiger life.
@@kingt075 ahhh its jaigan lol, yeah only on dm i just keep on chasing until i run out stamina then stand still lol, usually i end up on 4th screen and i dont care cause nothing to prove as spoony cause spoony have to win against gaga
damn good fight again Sticky. you truly are an amazing Giga player ( and all Dinos for that matter ) Loved learning something new about the Giga...I had mostly lost using a Giga vs. Spinos and now I know why! def looking forward to another fight using what you have laid down in this video! Cheers and keep up the good work my dude
Didn’t know about the giga counter to the spino turning and chasing you down with ambush!! Ty that really helps even though I’ve had the same experience as you where most spoons don’t know to do that.
a spino can actually counter this... I know, counter, counter, counter, I think there is another counter somewhere in there so basically, if you hold shift and tap a/d fast you basically turn like you have z walk and what holding shift does is it keeps your ambush. Good thing is, its pretty hard to practice, and not many spinos know it, but since 95% of hunting ground players are highly skilled, make sure to keep that in mind.
Ive done this with the spino beforr, but i think its just a de-sync issue. Ive done it on accident a bunch of times with the giga and the spino, and you essentially rubber band around, but its only on your screen. To everyone else, it still looks like youre turning as normal. In my experience, the best way to counter this is to wait for them to sprint turn, z-turn>sprint-bites. You dont stack as much bleed as the giga (obviously) but you land bites in and you can still pressure with trotting. Its not 100% effective, cuz they can always just run in a straight line or change direction, but it gives you a fighting chance at least
@@liamatte actually spino and giga do about the same bleed to each other. Also if you dont count in bleed and assume they are trading bites evenly, the spino will actualy win
@@cameronochocki634 Even so, the giga is still a hefty bastard. Giga can easy bleed a spino, but spino has so many defensive tools that it usually doesnt matter. Ik the spino does a lot of bleed, but its primarily because of his weight (unfortunately i have to know this because i play dilo) and since the giga is so heavy its actually not that much. Bite for bite, giga deals like, almost twice as much bleed. Spino does more damage, giga does more bleed, which is why spinos need to ride gigas to stack more bleed.
I wanted to tell you this a long time ago, when you are in ambush and you want to look in the character menu, this is what u want to do to not lose the ambush: press escape and then character, u wont lose the ambush, oh and if u want to leave the character menu, press escape, if u press insert or what keybind u set it on, u'll lose the ambush.
Something I use is the steam overlay- you can count at what second that the heal tick takes place and press shit+tab to check periodically. For example, if my healing tick was at 43 seconds into the minute I could keep pressing shift+tab to see my steam overlay which has a clock in the top left to see when that 43 seconds is coming
Sticky I love your videos and I love your hunting grounds server. You are to the Isle, what “Farket” and “The Outer Middle show” are to The Forest. You make the game that much more enjoyable.
I hope after they complete evrima in 37 years they still keep legacy because I still really like legacy and it would be nice to have the option to switch it up every once in a while
You can keep the ambush while turning very sharply as the spino, you just need to hold the shift button and spam A or D depending where you wanna turn. That makes the fight pretty much impossible for the giga
Spino can counter that method by letting go of w while keeping hold of shift(while in z walk mode) and tapping "a" left or "s" right and it makes them turn a lot quicker. They could also raise their mouse to land extra tail nips. Definitely takes a few tries to get used to it though. Often mistake I've done is not doing the turning thing quick enough.
If the crocodile does not let go of shift and changes direction it can reposition and catch you very easily. It’s like a Utah z turn when spino stops but holds shift it changes direction and easily will get you, spino has frontal drag bite hitbox very big (an experienced spino will double the hitbox range size, however if he simply bites without using camera angles it will miss 50% of his bites, like vs a Utah that jumps you point camera up... same thing here but targeting the tail of the giga) if spino shakes camera forward the right way to catch the higher tip of the tail which the hitbox will target while aimed higher it will easily hit the giga, and game over. You good sticky and this is how your supposed to fight but in the isle if you haven’t played enough the Dino you never gonna know if it wins or not, I played many and know this from experience, because I too tried that tactic but unfortunately against good spinos and the broken legacy the spino easily counters the giga tactic in every way. I hate the shift glitch and the hitboxes in this game, so many fights are not balanced against every Dino, some Dinos have better hitboxes which are very broken but work vs 1 Dino but don’t work against another dino... and makes it a lot unfair...is just the legacy.
@@mentalmanager-g7h is overpowered and not a balanced Dino, a broken Dino like Rex in many ways but even worse because of its z turn and over health. Spino anyway is a sandbox Dino and should not be expected to be calibrated in any way... I mean I don’t have to say much, it’s the legacy. The game where you use bugs and glitches to win
Something too note about the Giga V Spino MU: If a Spino just keeps running at you and you're basically "jousting", the Giga wins. Spinos heal bleed fast but their bleed resist is really bad. I've done a lot of labbing with Giga back when I legacy isle was my life and ik a shit ton about Giga and just about every MU inside and out. Gotta say Giga Vs Spino and Giga Vs Shant are two extremely fun mus. You also only ever need ambush if the Spino is getting ambush. If Spino isn't getting ambush/ambushing then ambush on yourself hurts more cause you're already faster, burning more stam, taking more bleed damage and also giving the Spino a moment to recognize more options.
hey legend, why is the fps so low between 30-40 ? I think if its locked above 60+ fps you would do so much better than usual ps: when I said usual it means better than everyone btw
Counter to your counters counter. If a giga is ambush turning like that, instead of chasing full speed you keep them moving as much as possible at a higher speed stage than you, making them bleed more than you for longer time with a lower health pool.
Bro I used to think it was way easier for Spoons because they can just turn but then I learned that gigas can run through it so I thought it was easier for the Gigas and then I learned that spoons had faster ambush so I thought it was in the spoons favour and now ik the gigs can sprint turn bro this is way more complex than I thought
Great video sticky, although there is another counter the spino can do to what u have shown in this video. Not many spinos know this tho so it's a rare sight
Yes, this is a counter method but this wasn’t the best way of doing it. You could have turned earlier and waited for him to run at you and run thorough instead of rubbing away. Also when you started turning, you’re supposed to keep turning until you make a full circle and when there’s a gap you can run through or run away. Not the best spino but nice job showing this i guess. Also the spino can just hold shift and tap w to hold it’s ambush and keep turning but there’s a counter to that I’m too lazy to explain
Hey Sticky!! This isn't a bad strategy by any means. This is what I would teach a guy who hasn't really played Giga vs Spoon. However theres a counterplay you can do with Spoon. If you are in ambush hold shift and tap w a bit and turn your mouse(or press a/d slightly and hold shift) and you can turn better than a giga in ambush that turning if you do it correctly. The Spoon should've used a bit less stamina aswell. thers also multiple points where the Spoon could've hit you with tail nips. Again not a bad strategy but theres better ways to kill a Spoon. I'm in a clan that knows how to fight spoons as Gigas very well
