If i remember correctly, the director of this film said his problem with the first one was the bots moved too slow and felt borrong at times. A little detail i love in the fiest film is u can see that the pilots do the best not to destroy the city if they can help it, when gypsy was look for the secons flying kaiju the pilots step over the bridge, in the sevond film they bust through building and pull building into the monster carelessly.

Another thing is the pilot suits. Before each one was unique and gave a unique feel that matches the jaeger. In uprising they all have the same armour which looks like some cheap foam on a crappy black undershirt and pants

Can we mention how they disgraced gypsies design. It used to look humanoid yet gargantuan, but this one is too human and thin. I doubt they can hide a sword, gears, and anything else to make it work in there. It hardly looks like the first one.

One thing I would also want to mention is the lighting. Pacific Rim lighting give a really strong military and war vibes. Uprising lighting on the other hands give a vibes of series like Tobot

This movie is so had that when pacific rim came to netflix this month I've rewatched it 20 times already, and it literally never gets old with how good it is. I'm trying to rewatch it as many times as I can before it leaves this month, that's how good the first movie is.

Its just wild thinking Im a big gundam fan And comparing the size these jaegers easily eclipse even 115m tall mobile armors in gundam by almost double or triple And those mobile armors simply either stayed still shooting beams or zipped around like a gigantic spaceship The fact that the jaegers were slow emphasized the extreme price of speed that it had to pay for mobility So seeing the new jaegers part of me wants to believe the advancement of tech helped but knowing that it wasnt long between the two movies and the amount of jaegers produced, as well as *OVER 4 FREAKING GENERATIONS OF JAEGERS HOLY MOLY* detracted from this Also yeah i agree making Amara *that* overpowered really didnt leave her with much to grow as a character, and Jake really couldve done with either a callback to his thug life or better development You’e right Ima go give timmy a spankin for this bs

In defense of Amara building a Jaeger (specifically that part) she didn't design it, nor did she make up the science. In the prequel comic that was released up until Uprising did, it was going over Amara and her story. Long story short, orphan girl adopted by genius scientist that made an AI dog and was building a Jaeger to fight off the mob. Scientist, dog, and third lady all die, leaving Amara alone. She takes the plans the scientist left and rebuilt the Jaeger after it was destroyed out of SCRAP. A normal Jaeger is made out of things like armored steel or other such durable metals, aside from some more high tech parts, Scrapper is just...a bunch of scrap strapped together. I believe the comic also said that she was taught by the Scientist a bit, hence why she was able to read it, but it's been so long I can't remember. Obviously that doesn't help because the MOVIE doesn't say that, or give much more of her story other than an offhanded remark, but hey, most people aren't aware of the comic so I figured I'd bring it up.

The jaegers in uprising should have been treated like an insurance policy in case the kaiju somehow returnedHumanity continued development of jaeger tech, made bigger and more badass mechs. Instead of the toys they became. Sure "illegal" and rogue jeagers could have been a thing and an issue that was a distraction and then boom, big kaiju pops up a d now the jaeger corps is scrambling to get to work

to this day i still watch pacific rim 1. that is my kind of childhood dream movie

real steel and pacific rim are the 2 movies i will ALWAYS love watching. i could watch it every day for a year and still love it

Something about the Jaegers in this movie got me comparing them to the power rangers megazord. I still wonder how the megazord works, especially certain variations where they are controlling it with wheels or something like that. The 2017 movie didn't get me questioning it because they each controlled a certain part and abilities it had, and they even had trouble when they tried to get it to walk

when they started to DELIBERATEDLY use all the buildings to destroy the kaiju that's when i realize the move is ASS.

Honestly, I think it's one of the best fanmade movies I've ever seen so far.

I can make an exception for saber Athena with its movement because it's a mark 7 and made lighter, faster, etc. the rest got no excuse. The only jeager I liked in the movie was November Ajax.

I've never seen these movies. But saying that the drones use Kaiju body parts for the drones makes me instantly think of Evangelion since they are repurposed Angel corpses used to fight other Angels in which if the pilot is out of sync the Angel Mech goes nuts. Now I don't know the details of those movies since I've never seen them but that's what this sounds like since those came out a decade or two ago before Pacific Rim.

The thing that got me is the Yaeger with the machine gun on the track. The barrels are absolutely massive, probably even bigger than battleship main guns. Those things firing should blow out every window in the city, and yet... It sounds like a machine gun out of call of duty with no impact at all.

The original pacific rim is one of my all time favorite movies, when i saw the 2nd one, its hard to describe that feeling i felt, it was like seeing the last jedi of the star wars series

12:56 Water is actually one of the worst ways to tell scale because it behaves exactly the same no matter the size (to a minimum). Basically there's no way to tell if we're staring at a miniature (toy-sized), a human wearing a costume, or a giant robot because the water will behave the same way. Try it if you don't believe me 😮. Edit: legit just have a look at any shots (not just in the movies) in the middle of the ocean. It's never possible to tell how big things are unless a fish or bird passes by. If the USA hadn't used battleships for their nuclear underwater test (Baker test), we'd have no idea of the scale of the explosion.

This wasn't a real movie. It was a fanfiction that legendary accidentally put a trailer up for. There never was a Pacific Rim sequel.

With Uprising, I always remember that stupid advertisement for, I think it was a new tablet or something. The woman is like, "Where do we land giant robots? Oh, here's an open field in this city. I'll circle it with this new tablet and that will make it into the movie." The fact that some woman was just basically idly using google maps or something and got to be part of the marketing for the movie and that whatever gadget still blows my mind. Incredibly low effort like that is why I remembered that movie existed a couple years after it came out and only then finally watched it. I've seen the first one many times.

Hello great video but i believe that they said in the first movie about the mark 1 jaegers and the prototypes are that the mark 1s were rushed and nuclear powered with no radiation shielding (expect for some ones like cherno alpha) and the pilots being dead by just the first drift they made was before they thought of putting two people in a giant machine plus they said that it was too much for one person to drift alone. Great video i did not know you were the one that made the one decade later video i will now watch it. Wish you a lot of success.

I think one of the main reasons modern movies feel different and worse than old movies is the aspect ratio. They really need to dump the 21:9 and go back to full-screen. It looks much more immersive when the movie fills the entire screen. It gets easier to notice little details and dive into the cinematographic experience

One thing that stuck out to me from this vid was something about Amara's big sin of telling us all about how cool the Jaegers are instead of showing, something that, when you think about it, makes it even more vapid. From a story perspective, every Jaeger she gushes over doesn't earn it. ALL were built well after the last Jaegers to actually fight a Kaiju exploded at the bottom of the ocean several years previously. So what the hell have any of them been doing to earn such a glowing reputation, and why the hell aren't we watching that movie? If it wasn't some Jaeger vs. Jaeger event in the past that earned their stripes in the characters' minds, then the only answer is it's just a case of her liking them because she thinks they look cool - which is hard to believe when all look so generic. What would I have done for a sequel? How about exploring the ramifications of Jaegers existing in a post Kaiju world? With no more unifying enemy to fight, would it be a sort of cold-war with giant robots instead of nukes? What if Obsidian Fury's purpose was to tip the balance and spark off the final mecha thunderdome instead of... whatever the F uprising was doing. Uprising was way too bright and filled with Power Rangers flips (hell, the Power Rangers film actually did a better Jaeger than Uprising). Pacific Rim isn't Marvel - it's dark and gritty with a side of cheese.

your point about the weird desync between the movements and tempo of the pilots made me realize that in the first pacific rim, the pilots ARE the jaegers, in uprising, they just control it, holographic controls and screens instead of the physical screens, controls, levels switches and MASSIVE hydraulics they stand on, even the suits they wear are massively downgraded to be generic almost power ranger type suits, instead of the almost space suit design with thick plating everywhere and an actually sealed helmet, why even wear a helmet if it isn't going to be sealed incase of a breach of water or even a breach IN SPACE. either have it sealed at all times if it can be sealed by something that can be hidden in the helmet or dont have the helmet in the first place

I could have pooped out a better story than this. It's tragic, too! I actually loved the Gipsy Avenger design. The other Jaegers were pretty decent, too. Something I feel should have been referenced to more was the Kaiju war. Gipsy Danger's arm was still at the bottom of the ocean near the Breach after Raiju tore it off. Why not have a museum that shows artifacts of the last war, such as the two pieces of that arm and parts of the other Jaegers that fell to protect humanity? Hell, why not replicate Crimson Typhoon's head and put the entire thing in that museum!? It's a major part of the universe, yet it gets completely glossed over in order to please the new generation. And you are so right about the movement speed! When even Stryker Eureka, the fastest Jaeger in the first movie, moved, you could genuinely *feel* the weight behind it. It took time to start even the fastest movements because that's how physics work. These robots weigh thousands of tons, and they should move like it. It doesn't matter how fast your servos or hydraulics are. Larger objects will always appear to move and start moving slower to a normal person. You also don't get to see any of the components of the bots moving, either. With the first movie, it genuinely felt like the pilots were controlling giant machines, and this was backed up by components being exposed when they took serious damage. With Uprising, "serious damage," was a small hole in the face. The only time a Jaeger took a lot of damage was when they were being destroyed beyond repair. The first movie was also smart by having the fights be in dark areas to cover up any design flaws in the CGI with the Jaegers. You don't get that kind of smart thinking in Uprising. All fights are in daylight, and you can tell the Jaegers are CGI because of it.
