@@thrillsbreh Spoken like a man who has no clue, you'd be out of there in 3 days. That's why unloaders have the highest revolving door at grounds. So many macho men who lift all day and can bench 300+ come in thinking it will be easy and get their fucking ass handed to them by a fully loaded trailer with 1500-2000 boxes( some of them having 250+ IC's) They are always the first to quit. Back to the gym big boy. Top level conditioned unloaders who don't tire are burning well over 2000 calories in 4-5 hours.

Today was brutal on my van line 350 packages in 1 truck,250 in another and 200 in the 3rd one, didn’t help that a dude didn’t show today 🤬, I was on the end and we were backed up for over an hour with packages sliding off the belt
@@matsuyamaalex it’s literally ass must be nice ups in my city is terrible I was an unloader for 7 and a half months quit 2 weeks ago for a better paying job and do 1/3 of the work I hope every other unloader or loader finds a better job because ups is not a forever job Atleast not the warehouses
True. I get bumps and bruises everyday. Sometimes worse. But I can’t speak for everyone. I have only been here for 4 months. I’m not looking forward to summer time. Winter was nice and cool. It gets up to -40 here in Winnipeg Canada. Keep up the hard work everyone.
I've been an unloader for a few weeks and man...it's a pain in the ass honestly. I'm back to being a flipper but during my time as an unloader, the E-Rigs were what slowed me down the most and had my supervisor fuss at me about being slow constantly. And when you look over the wall of these annoying ass boxes and see the back wall, the feeling of sweet relief is something else 😅
I’m that dick for the unloaders that’ll try to keep every neat and organized to where I’ll stack up 70 to 100 pound packages right on the very top to fully close a gap
@@JackGeezy Just saw this comment. I remember starting the very next day. My center is always hurting for extra bodies. Kinda hard to find people to unload trucks by hand at 3 in the morning for low pay.
I worked at UPS as a package handler 2 years ago and it was crazy intense. The anxiety I would get when the boxes would flood and fall all over the place. Now I work at a vitammine shoppe warehouse and I get paid more and there's far less boxes.
This made me crack up! I am an unloader and many of the times we pull down the boxes from the top so it all comes crashing down hoping to get it on the xtendo
No irregs on this load? Seems I always get wine barrels, trampolines, treadmills, outdoor gazebos, huge electric cars for kids, 75-100 pound dumbbells, couches, recliners, etc etc
@@travisbeck8184 of course nothing they couldn't get from local stores, because "if I don't like it I can just haul 100lbs+ to the local UPS store, find out it's a kohl's return, and find out they're overfilled with other useless shit, make 10+ trips to make a return omg so convenient!!!" (Reality .. you could've gone anywhere.. no you order online and complain about sizes/length and god knows what else)
It's amazing how all of it says "Team Lift" on it too and they expect the driver to just do it by themselves. The driver I load for has started to refuse overly heavy packages because she doesn't want to hurt herself. Which is smart. If you know the union rules, play the game.
he actually had a nice load to work with. A lot of times, loaders will build a nice wall and the just chuck packages behind the wall where they won't be seen until the unloader gets to them.
@Snake Tales I'm good man, I did that at the last distribution job I had, I've done my time doin wall to wall and making sure the trailer doesnt over weigh in the front or back, I ab curious tho because I haven't seen loading at ups done, I work the sunrise shift, do u guys use the carts and do a trans load from a different container?
@@musclecarsdaily3020 I do this regularly. If not this, or this with "non-con" (large non-conveyable packages, put to the side, stacked, and pallet jacked in for separate processing), it's jacking various pallets and hand inducting, outbound loading, dumping, or "TDR" (trailer docking and releasing) which is just making sure all the trailers are safely attached for associates, and released for the yard jockey. It's moderately diverse, and folks tend to leave you alone, but it comes with the consequence of significantly more labor. So if you're in it for a workout as well as a paycheck, it helps. ;)
Nice flow, wheres your load stand at. Also, you can go faster if you dont look back at your extendo so much-- it's always going to be where you expect it. Cheers 🤟😎
So many packages label down lmao. I also unload for ups. Labels up is everything. Our facility has a person scanning right off the truck and a sort section upstairs.
I was an unloader for UPS in Secaucus, NJ and it was easy, it was one conveyor belt that didn't work well it only stayed in one position it was elbow high for me and I had to lift heavy packages, I hated that conveyor belt, I wasn't the only one who hated it. I was a very skinny person at only 100 lbs being 5'3. I quit because I couldn't lift heavy packages anymore it was too much on my body giving me bad headaches, bad back pain, chest pain and numb arms.
Does the public really "need" all the things that are in these boxes? A lot of these things just cause trouble for people, are not worth the bother, have a short life span, and end up in the dump. Less is more.
Agree. Half of these boxes won’t be tossed or returned. I’m amazed at how many Amazon & Target boxes come through. This past Friday, I loaded a Walmart box for the first time. I’ve never seen a Walmart box come through UPS.
Initially I thought, a full 53 footer by himself in 38 minutes? I had to see that. Course, he didn’t even get to the roller. My record by myself, with 90% labels is an hour and 15 minutes. But there’s a saying in my hub, we don’t get paid by the box. So I take my time.
man i be hauling ass bro. here in cali fedex ground they use u bro. that’s the first thing ppl say to new hires bro it’s faxts.. i work hard n get to work alone in 50-53 footers most the time .. don’t kill urself for boxes i’m 20 and i stop myself from slouching a lot
SkyzRise I work at a store for a Shipping and Receiving and i do exactly what this guy does. 98% of the boxes that are crushed or broken are from the people that load the trucks. Every now and a wall will fall and break some boxes but for the most part its the guys loading the trailer that screw everything up.
@@spud2632 same I used to work Walmart in bck warehouse this exactly what I was doing but I go faster than this guy I quit because I didn’t want no back problems plus it get hot af in the truck💯
I have been unloading for 4 years now. We don't have powered rollers in our receiving and there is a 90 degree turn just outside the trailer. So far this guy has had a light trailer. Most all our long heavy product is at the rear doors and shippers refuse to use their cargo nets or load retainers. The rear door is usually impossible to open because of all the freight Laying on it from the inside or trailers with damaged doors. Not only do i lift product onto a roller but i have to push it out of the trailer. Using the same rollers i started out with 4 years ago makes for a lot of packages on the floor and whole body strain. This guy is lucky his employer provides him with a powered roller system. We receive 3 to 5 trailers in a 4 1\2 hour shift and move 800 to 1000 pieces an hour. You don't lay your bags on the rails in our center, you toss them to the end of the trailer. At the age of 65 i have seen 5 crews come and go, most kids don't last one month unloading.
Unreal bro, I just signed as a handler at fedex and they put me straight onto this, not fun at all. Feels like it’s never going to end and you’ve got to have a semi trailer done within 2 hours by yourself. My back and arms are so sore. Contemplating quitting already if this all I’m ever going to do.
I used to unload trucks for walmart and the non powered rollers where a bitch and mad the job so much harder. Once we got the powered once it got alot easier.
This is a perfect example of what all unloader does -- to manually unload the variety of sizes, weight, shape, and types...It's every 3am shift labor, covering 2 to 4 trucks for one person duty (Depends on the total of loads for that specific day.) I sincerely do believe the automation engineer needs to tackle this problem and think of a real solution. The task is straightforward: Put all items onto the conveyor. That's it. It's just demoralizing for having to do this at all times, it's exhausting and mindlessly.
its more profitable to hire workers than to use a machine. one reason why is probably cause machine breaks down and costs a lot of money to repair and maintain.
Am starting today for loading or unloading position am excited and nervous at the same time just reading all the comments I just hope everything goes well.
I'm currently a loader for a FedEx Ground warehouse and the place and workloads are usually so overwhelming and stressful unless you are strong mentally and physically, I'm in the middle of looking for a different job because I've been too fed up with FedEx for awhile now. Respect to all package handlers in these comments that are busting your backs so people get their packages 👏👏👏
u did a good job. i miss this work. i worked at fed ex. now, i work in an office and am very unsatisfied with it. if u can survive this job, you can do anything. the gym will never simulated constant work in a hot trailer
I used to unload for 2 and a half years and say that he’s doing a lot of over reaching... I have belt closest to the wall and slide the boxes on to the belt. I grab from the middle and then let the boxes come down the middle and slide it on the belt.
Preload unload is different, you have to make sure the labels are facing the right way. So it takes a lot more skill. This guy is doing like night sort or something
So, half hour to unload a 53' trailer, $16 per hour. Who will unload this truck for $8 (minus taxes)? 5 hour shift, 10 trucks!? Hell of a way to make $65 after taxes.
I suppose the folks that say you are a slow loader have work for UPS Amazon FedEx or whomever. Get cut off before you got to the end of the trailer which I really wanted to see how long that took. Nonetheless I was impressed at how quick this went. And I am sure a company considers it slow. They are all about numbers. Most companies are.
Currently an Unloader at UPS, been here for 2 years, my 3rd peak season. And I was waiting for u to get the roller out haha, that's the most annoying part, at least you had a decent load, I get all the lucky ones with irregs and 100+ lbs boxes. Although I do enjoy the pups more.
Bruh I work at Ups Jefferson Chicago Hub and I had to unload 58 footers labels up, take out irregs, break jams by myself reaching 5300-6200pph. I been unloading semis for 2 years now surviving 3 peak seasons so far. Much respect for all Upsers🤙
This a light truck the trucks I be getting be too heavy to speed through like this and I always end up with a lot of bulk Edit: plus I have a shitty supervisor who does nothing but complain and talk to his workers like dirt so I don’t rush

Damn that line is sexy, the ones i used at target were manual broken pieces of shit, had to align the line and manually push and line up boxes or else they would fall and spill all over the place, this automatic conveyor belt looks real nice!
This is what I do at target, but I also have to push the boxes down the rollers. We don't have an automatic roller. My coworkers just stand there and watch me until a box gets to them it really makes me angry. They could at least step into the truck and grab some boxes and push them down the line. But no I have to do it all!! It's one hell of a workout 😠
Ya I have been there. Like it's not rocket science everyone should push the line and it wouldn't be a problem but the managers can't seem to figure that out.
Same thing at my Purolator depot. Have to push the boxes down and my coworkers staring at me like I'm supposed to hand them the boxes!? I was sooo pissed off it's like "why are you just standing there?" first day unloading myself and I thought I was gonna die 😭
@@vvocky There are package handlers in UPS that are earning more than the supervisors. (high senorities members are maxed out at 36 an hour). Fedex package handlers make more starting off but in the long run because UPS is union, earn more money and better benefits with guaranteed raises.

@@ImpairedScissor loading is much harder. U gotta use a load stand, reach the top, do puzzle, scan each packages, toss out miss-loads and intercept, drag/push down ireg… nah this is much easier.
One of the worst things to do is cram boxes back to back when you are off for a jam or overgoods all over the place. Multiply this x 30 and you are immediately jammed up again or wind up damaging packages. Unloaders should have to work as a tender or even a floater. They would see that a lot of their practices cause others grief. Plus it only makes things go slower.
Nice pace at unloading, just remember to always put the labels up or if on the side facing towards the sort aisle. I've been at UOS for 9 years now. I've worked every area of the building just haven't done ereg driver. Small sort is the easiest section I've worked in. I'm now over the air dock section.
He needs to bring the extendo in closer and pull the mid package out and tilt it up to cause the wall to fall downward so he doesn't have to reach up so high. Then work across the wall from end to end. That's how i blow out trailers and upset the sorters and supervisors. I'm trying to get out of that thing asap.
@@seanc6468exactly. Guys never think to lift UP when pulling a box out of the middle of the wall. Instead they just pull it out, which causes unnecessary shifting and crashing for the boxes above it and behind it. I’ve been unloading for about a year now and have got it down to a science where a full 53ft trailer takes between 1 hour 15 minutes and 1 hour 45 minutes depending on the type of boxes, how many irregulars there are, and, most importantly, where those irregulars got placed inside the truck. I don’t remember the last time a trailer took me longer than 1 hour 45 minutes. People think I’m just working harder and faster than them. I’m not; I’m doing it smarter than them which makes it safer and way faster
Ain’t nobody worried about no labels when they want us to work super fast, they try to get away with paying us the bare minimum to do all this strenuous work. We are not slaves we’re the heartbeat of UPS and treated like nothing.
The days of guys working 30 years at UPS are gone. That's the old fleet and they're all leaving. The younger generation have more options than crushing your body to make $200 a week. After a month, what does a few hundred dollars do for you? So they leave, bc there are plenty of better options even if they pay the same, at least you won't be physically drained.
I left after almost 2yrs unloading Target trucks 4am 5 days a week sometime 6 and now im about to be a dishwasher with the same payout, but atleast I wont come home looking like I got beat up by boxes and furniture.
This looks so easy compared to how we did it in wholesale. It sucks to have just one guy inside the trailer though. We had two and it took 2-3 hours each trailer/container.
Come to amazon you will be fine, i work at the dock there i do a little bit of everything including fix the damage boxes that are throw when the trucks are been unload...
Do this at an outdated UPS hub lol…. The supervisors will be walking back and forth yelling at you to keep your labels up because the scanners used to scan the barcodes suck ass. I’m a sorter but they have me unload when they’re short staffed so I’ve done both. Unloading is so fun and I can’t get enough of it, even in the 105 degree heat
Yeah its probably more tolerable in a UPS hub, but you would be singing a different tune working at a retail store like Target/Walmart. Broken pallets alone will ruin your day and you have to break down any mixed items on pallets like dog food with furniture. Its only a fun job if you have a 2nd person in there to help. Other than that your just getting paid to bench press boxes for 3-4 hours
For anyone working in hot warehouses during the summer, I suggest getting a neck fan it blows cool air, I have one and it feels great, .it looks like headphones 🎧, I wish I had one in 2019 during the summer working at UPS.
10:52, he picks up that 40lb Costco box and puts it on the belt label down - sorters love that. We would load the belt back to back with packages like he is doing and they go right off of the sort belt and onto the floor.
@@MLagasse444 You guys don’t have 6 sided scanners?? In my hub we have those and our supervisors literally tell us to throw the boxes however which way as long as you’re not abusing them. I have no idea how every box gets scanned considering I sometimes double stack them or put them so close together it would be impossible to scan it. But at the same time our belt stops for like 20 minutes a day so it probably causes clogs but they never say anything about it.

Dudes belt stopped because his Eds is probably in hell and his sorter is probably having a very hard time getting to the labels because not a single one is facing up, the second package he places on the belt is like one of the only good labels lmao
The slower the sorters the longer it will take for the truck to be done. That was the 1 thing my supervisor could never understand. I love it when they tell you exactly the hour the trucks should be done when we have like 4 ppl on the line and Vendors in the way.... It depends on the size of the trailer. If a short trailer - 30 -35 at best. A 48 ft. 45 to 1 hr. and 25 minutes. A 58 ft. 2 hours tops - It merely depends on the volume inside the trailer, that will your question.
