I think the media is over glorifying civil services. RU-vid is filled with things like " attitude boy status, IAS entry, power of IAS, etc " Some teachers like Vikas Divyakirti even say that there is nothing better than IAS but I think a scientist or an entrepreneur contributes way more than these officers combine in nation-building. TVF aspirants too was a marketing gimmick to attract naive unemployed students.

And once that middle class with urge gets good job and have power then they became same upper class and does the same with middle class and lower class people. So basically these examples are moot. Most people in power/doctor/IAS/ bureaucrats were middle class. People should learn from their past and treat other people nicely regardless of their class and status.

This is at best social satire, stand-up comedy. This guy wants to be popular, not make IAS officers. If you are listening to these kind of classes and wanting to be an IAS, I am sorry you are wasting time. Mr. Ojha is encouraging an entire class to work hard for their exams, by reminding them of their selfish personal goals. Automatically if any of these students become an IAS, they are more likely to work with their selfish goals in mind. Get quick airport clearance etc. IAS is not a 'baap ka jagir'. It calls on the bravest sons of India to serve the country. Put great goals in their minds Mr. Ojha. Dnt make them small like you. Jai Hind. 🇮🇳

True. Much of the happiness is relative in many people's life. A raise in salary wouldn't make you happy if your colleague has also got a similar raise. Letting go of this comparison mindset is the key to happiness in the long run. Otherwise even after becoming an IAS, you would compete with your batchmates to get better posting and derive happiness only when you are ahead of your peers. Vicious cycle it is.

It is a function of how society wants to breed power. I remember I was in a cafe in Paris and someone in the group remarked that the ex president of France was also eating his lunch there. I checked and he was sitting alone in a normal cafe behaving like any other resident of Paris. One of the French citizens with us who was a bit too enthusiastic clicked his photo as kids nowadays do for instagram. The security man hidden in plain sight till then thought it may be a possible risk and only requested to respect the privacy of a president eating food. They did not demand the phone to be searched or delete photos, nothing happened. Imagine the same situation in Delhi. Thus people follow government rules in western societies but don't idolize government and bureaucrats. There should ideally be no reason until it is artificially created by society and government.

Damn right ! This is the current state of middle class “KOI SUNTA NAHI HAI” but is Bureaucracy the only way ? The answers “NO”. You basically have two Hands which run this society 1. Bureaucrats - Politicians (Civil servants get respect and attention but are in turn reports to their boss) 2. Businessmen - Ambani, Adani etc. (They don’t have direct authority but have capital which govt cannot ever exclude, they generate lot of wealth, employment etc.) So, there are two ladders for any middle class but there is one more catch here ! Who will be the next generation adults? It’s us the Millennials, we’ll be the Uncles and Aunts of tomorrow. Do you still think we are giving so much hype for UPSC jobs as our parents give ? Nah ! We are exposed to Startups, Internet, gadgets, Technology and hell like Tik Tok. There’s a high chance that the level of command and respect Civil servants command will be diluted in future. No doubt you’ll get all the attention of what sir has mentioned above but future is different. I’m telling this to only those people who have confused to be the elite level with which they think they can achieve anything. Sadly, you can’t.

UPSC CIVIL SERVICES exam should have limited attempt for everyone irrespective of background including age capping because lakhs of aspirants fails to qualify for the 800-900 vacancies and spends years in preparation sacrificing productive age of our life in getting no where. It's really a waste of human resources which could have use in other professionals. UPSC is a trap for many young people.
