Not pushing it is the best advice! Drive it at 100 you will have problems, drive 80-90 and you will be fine. In Canada where I am most highways are 90 to 100. I can cruise in the slow lane at 80 and have never had issues with traffic or mechanical failure. My Ural just died at 230000km (2008) looking forward to getting another. The new 2023 is an actual modern machine (and the oil leak issues have been fixed this year) This one will be my main vehicle as I am now in Southern Ontario and winder riding is fun.

A great review! We're at approximately 20,000M, 32,000K's on ours. We've had some issues with leaking rear engine seals and EFI sensors during the 5 years we've owned. I did recently put on the 2-1 exhaust, but it leaks that same black stuff that yours does. They just don't seal that well. We don't go fast either. Sticking to the back roads and forest trails is the only way to travel anyway. Thanks for sharing.

Thanks , good stuff , 32000km gives me hope for the future. Yeah the exhaust has a few little leaky seams , but nothing too bad. Did you get the rear engine seal fixed ?

Hi, I had a miserable experience with my original dealer and their "repair". Took them months and it started leaking almost immediately. Found a great dealer that fixed it immediately. They are just 800km away unfortunately. A good dealer makes all the difference. @@CreakyRider

6900km on our 2021 Gear Up 2wd. As I write this it is in for warranty repair on the rear main seal. Our weather here in North Central Washington St is about to turn the ground white with snow and the critters are fattening up and burrowing for Winter. I am extremely pleased with Ural Company as I think they must be the Gold Standard for honoring warranty work! As your video pans up from the sidecar shock I noticed that the fender bolt looked backed off a bit. LOL, maybe just my old eyes. We have been on a lot of washboarded roads this year and have found that Loctite is my friend. Just a note to say I am grateful to you and a few other Ural Owners on YT for the info you have provided. It has helped me here an there. Not to mention seeing your lovely country from the saddle point of view. Keep up the great work.

Yes well spotted , that fender bolt kept coming loose on our last few rides , the fender was making some rattling noises , and Ive now put some loctite on it. Hopefully it stays put now.

Are you using the dealer in Lynnwood for warranty work, or Raceway North in Poulsbo? TIA

Long story short... I just got back from an overnight 909.2 mile round trip to Raceway Ural/Salem and back, tonight. 3rd such trip to Salem since buying the bike from lynnwood,.. Went for a new transmission, another long story, and am beat, brain fog time. Raceway Ural/South replaced the transmission in about 3 hours in and out. @stephenlittfin7448

@@richardstephens9647 Are you aware of Mike Paull's operation in Poulsbo, Raceway North? Using him would certainly save you time & trouble. I used Lynnwood for a warranty engine replacement (I lived in Port Orchard at the time), the technician was great, the service writer was clueless.

Cool to hear your thoughts. I've had a road sidecar for 34 years, an old Ron Hurdis HRD sidecar in my 1988 Lowrider, still ride it every week. I've always wondered about the Ural sidecars and what they are like.

Wife and I have enjoyed many of your vids. I've picked up many insights watching and learning. Here's my question: What brand of handle-bar risers are you using? I've been looking for a set that works with the windscreen (I'm also going to do the L bracket). I use Rox on another bike...are these Zata? Many Thanks!

I have 50,000 miles on my 1999 URAL side car outfit.l replaced the 2 piece drive shaft, the helical gears, and 2 broken cylinders 3 years apart. The 2 nd time she bent a rod. All fixed now. Been a very fun bike. Towed home a free boat . All Soviet made parts still working.Expensive German shocks, Italian wheels, Ducati ignition,EFI, and stainless steel exhaust add $10,000 to the price of the new ones.Nice to have but not necessary.Bike used to be the same as a new Sportster like a 883 but is now priced like a big twin. There's no difference in stopping distance between drum and discs brakes.Replaced broken brake cable in 30 seconds.EFI bikes run hot as hell cooking the oil 🛢️ to ☠️💀 death . Hit a wild pig 🐷. Chipped the paint on the front fender. Fun bikes but overpriced today.😢

I’ve got a 2021 Gear Up. I’ve done nearly 9000kms on it. I love it. I ride it at 100km/hr on the open road and it seems perfectly happy at that speed. Head winds do slow it up significantly though. I replaced the rear tyre with the spare at about 6000 kms. I’ve had no trouble at all with the outfit except the bloody EMS light stays on unless I do the three flicks of the ignition key when I turn the bike on. I don’t have an OBD unit so can’t figure out what the problem is. Do you know of an OBD unit that will plug into the bike? The Ural OEM one costs about $500 so I’d be interested if there’s a cheaper non OEM one on the market. Failing that I’ll get the dealer to fix it when I take it in for its 10,000km service. I’ve found too that the hand break is in need of virtually constant adjustment. Other than those minor gripes it’s a ton of fun on and off road. Thanks for sharing and feedback from you and/or your followers will be appreciated 👍😎
@CreakyRider
@CreakyRider 8 месяцев назад
Yes I got a cheap OBD unit working with instructions from the guys who have done it before me on the Ural Australia forum. I got it working , all it does is tell me the fault codes if I have a fault , it's not really compatoable with the RPM etc , I havent needed it so it's sitting there just in case I need it. I need to get it out and do a video on it. The only engine check light problem I had was when the little rubber boot on the throttle cable slid down and caused one side to be out of sync. Keep and eye on those little rubber boots on the throttle cables , they slip down.

Although the manual states it has a 1300 payload, my son is 440, 6ft 8. Would it be too hard to balance with that much weight in the sidecar?

Hi mate my name is Marty I’m going to buy a new Ural very soon, have emailed Mat at Uralla I think , I’m on the mid north coast , I’ll be doing gravel & dirt roads / tracks in the state forests , usually nothing to serious , maybe the odd timber rig but usually not much else, I still have my enduro bike but getting a bit long in the tooth (bit harder to pick up these days) question for you if you’re interested in trying to help me out would be would a 2wd model suffice then go for accessories later or in your opinion would you get a few oem bits cheers Marty

Sounds good , you can go adventuring straight away on the new 2WD ,the first 100kms is alway interesting as you sort out the quirks of steering a sidecar, but it gets easier , then you can add what bits and customise it how you want. Everyone is different ,it's always interesting meeting another Ural and seeing what they have done. 👍They do training days etc at Ural Australia.
