In this longer video we show a comparison of different dynamic (transient) simulation approaches: URANS and LES (and LES with turbulent inlet). More at: rheologic.net/e... Music: www.bensound.com
I absolutely love this video! It is very well done. The comparison between the simulations is quite dramatic and clearly highlights the high-fidelity nature of LES. The synthetic eddies were a nice touch!
congratulations, you obtained high-quality insights for urban design by using CFD. It would be very revealing to see a 2D plot at the end, showing the same isoline for the plane chosen in the three different scenarios. Masterpiece.
That's exactly the point :) As soon as I get around to it, I'll post a graph of the velocity over time in a certain place, that should show that the overall/average results of RANS/URANS are basically a smoothed version of the LES result.
Alvaro, we've just update the homepage with a graph comparing the wind velocities over time for a single sample point. It shows quite nicely that URANS is a smoothed version of LES: rheologic.net/en/dynamic-urban-wind-simulation
