I personally don't have the funds to setup multiple rifles for this purpose. Nor do I care to register an SBR or risk spending the money to setup something with a pistol brace for the eventuality when the ATF modifies their Pistol Brace ban and we end up back to square one with that. What I do have that I feel is the most practical for me if I were to carry like this is my S&W FPC. Even though it's just a PCC, it folds and is compact and I would think would deliver more velocity at range compared to my CC S&W Equalizer. The secondary advantage for the FPC is the magazine carriers in the but stock. It comes with one flush 17rnd and 2 x 23 rnd extended magazines.

We aren’t advocating that everyone needs to go out and build a bag gun. We are just trying to get people to have the right mindset. If the video does that, then we’ve achieved our goal.
@lowdrag82

If it’s what you can afford then it’s better than nothing. Please know that 99% of PCC’s are range toys and not to be used for self protection. 9mm double stack double feed Colt mag fed AR’s and MP5 style guns are superior if one feels they want to sacrifice a rifle caliber for pistol caliber convenience. It’s great that you have something

If you're going be concerned with what the atf might do, i don't see how you can purchase any gun. Let alone how you think a folding gun that has multiple scary magazines wont be on the chopping block eventually 🤷🏿‍♂️

@@mace_felloutthe_windu I'm not concerned about what the ATF hasn't already targeted. I mentioned the pistol brace specifically because they already have targeted it. And although we currently have a nationwide injunction, that is based on the APA. Meaning the ATF didn't follow the rules pertaining to how they change their "rules". This means that all they really have to do is correct that mistake and we are back to square one.

Just curious though… what is the message? The entire first part is just sensationalism. We have had FAR worse times in the nation. Civil war, civil rights, Rodney king riots, Great Depression… the list goes on even further and I’m sure some people could add more. I feel like the gun community has a hard on for acting like it’s so “dangerous” today. Safer now than ever in American history. It’s a cool video for sure and I think you shouldn’t be stopped from carrying whatever firearm you want. Just not clear on what is intended with the intro other than fear mongering.

I have split the difference and gone to a 5.7 handgun. I can easily carry over 70 rounds rounds with a red dot sight and a weapon light and easily hit steel targets at 100 yards. No bag required! But I respect the rifle carry you do you! Where I live though it’s just a lot!

The weight and bulk really adds up a lot. Brass facts did a great video on this subject of the viability of a pcc for bag carry for this exact reason. Rifles in bags are heavy and take up the entire bag or force you to carry a really huge bag. 5.7 is a very formidable round, some may argue that fact but it's a great lightweight round for what it is. I can carry 3 times as much ammo as 9mm for the same weight.
@MinimumSpeedOperator
@MinimumSpeedOperator 9 месяцев назад
@@DIYDad1exactly that is why I made the compromise. It’s enough gun and magazine capacity along with truly extended range compared to 9mm to give me the warm and fuzzies without becoming ridiculous. I still look completely normal walking around with no special accessories yet I have a 100 yard gun and 70 rounds on me! If I need more than that I should have been making better decisions. Or God was ready to call me home. If I end up dead with all of that at slide lock then brothers it was nice knowing you but I’m ready to meet the Lord so it’s no loss for me. At least I. Had the ability to take some bad guys with me and probably did.

I’m an old fart who’s always thought my 1911 and a spare mag would be plenty. But after the last few years and more specifically the last few weeks, a handgun just doesn’t seem like enough anymore. I have a couple rifles I’ve carried in my vehicles for quite a while but I‘’ve decided to take that a step further and put together a backpack gun. I like your configurations and your thought process. It’s helpful to see yours in action before committing to my own setup. I agree with making it mainstream. It’s something I’ve wanted to do for a while but realize it’s becoming more of a need than a want nowadays. Enjoyed the video.

Still to this day. 2nd is the break in's in my works parking lot. I carry a p365 as my EDC, I want to build a kit based around my car and mu travels. So here is were it stands now. 1. Plates, volocity systems ulv with compressed plate carrying shirt 2. A basic p365 3. A mck conversion kit, with a sig red dot, and the mck light. 4. Emp bag, with a radio, atac( old phone), boafeng inside, small drone Car has a emp shield on it. My goal was to keep the set up cheap, but reliable and functional. A good bag option is in Eberlestock’s lineup. The Jacknife has a panel against the carrier’s back that can hold a 11.5” (if broken down into upper/lower) - A decent .300BLK or 5.56 broken down with an optic and maybe a suppressor, and the bag actually fits in daily life. Doesn’t appear tactical necessarily, so you cant be called out like someone carrying 5.11 or such.

Well done video, I appreciate the quality and rational arguments. However, rifle carry has a severe liability to asset ratio that will always make it a poor choice without a specific mission that necessitates it. In any case, where are the suppressors? Why are you staring with earpro on? It is already unrealistic. The first problem is shown in the opening scene. The rifle was separated from the person. This absolutely cannot happen for even one moment. Would you remove your EDC pistol and leave it somewhere? Ever? But you will separate from your rifle. That is a no-go and there is no way to guarantee that to never happen. Next, it is utterly unrealistic to carry a backpack into every grocery store, restaurant, mall or other store (many forbid backpacks) etc that you may happen upon. You will have to leave it in your vehicle where it is worse than worthless, it is a liability when crime such as auto burglary is at an all time high. You would need to invest thousands into locking storage. I lost a pistol this way and will never do it again. Lastly and worst of all, you will face a high likelihood of being shot by responding LE or other citizens. It has happened before so do not say it won't happen or you can prevent this. You can much more easily hide a pistol with a sul position or just re-holster and disappear. Not so with a rifle. Remember the guy who shot a bad guy, picked up his rifle, then got killed by the cop that showed up and shot the guy with the rifle like he was told? That citizen with the rifle is dead. His family lost him for nothing. You will be dead, then what about your family you are so passionate about protecting and providing for? They are on their own and for what? All because you got shot by a responding cop that took a 100y shot at the guy with the rifle. No, rifle carry without a specific mission is a horrible idea. If you really want to be prepared with some extra fighting gear, pack a small bag with extra pistol mags, a full size suppressor, IFAK etc.. I EDC a suppressor in my pocket already and can hit paper plate sized target standing with a suppressor which I can mount in about 4 seconds. If the situation turns into the 1986 FBI shootout or North Hollywood shootout, then getting involved, even with a rifle, is probably a very unwise choice. Instead, along with some extra pistol gear, learn better tactics, how to stalk and close distance and up your marksmanship to get head shots at 50y. It is not that hard. Frankly, if your tactics require a rifle to deal with an active shooter your tactics are lacking. To close this out, how are you going to feel when one of your viewers ends up in the news, dead, because they got involved with a rifle and got shot like the previous guy? Would you still promote rifle carry?
@Knight_of_the_Old_Code
@Knight_of_the_Old_Code 9 месяцев назад
Exactly 💯. If I have a "bag gun" it's mainly used for long distance traveling or as a get home gun/PDW for when things around me may have gotten so bad to the point I have to ditch my vehicle and need something with more firepower than my EDC. The bag also has a quick-grab bandoleer w/med kit, extra mags, etc; but again, my specific PDW setup/kit in this bag is designed around this very specific purpose. Not for bee-bopping around town. I believe in being prepared, but unless things go to total and complete garbage, which necessitates the need for pulling out a rifle in public, which would be basically a WROL scenario, I won't be carrying a rifle around. I think many people get caught up in the hype of this tactical BS and are the same type who will say their EDC handgun is so they can "fight their way back to their rifle." That's BS. In reality, the fight will begin and end with whatever you have on you; which will REALISTICALLY be your EDC handgun or a blade (as a last resort). IMHO, train with ANY platforms you carry, whether it be your vehicle gun and/or EDC, and become proficient. All that gear, weapons, ammo, medical, etc won't mean diddly squat if you don't know how to use any of it.

14 reasons NOT to carry a backpack rifle DAILY when compared to a concealed handgun: 1. It is not quick deploy (at least not on the level of drawing a handgun) and therefore not an effective defensive tool in many situations. Most defensive scenarios happen quickly and at very close distances. 2. Places like supermarkets, retail stores, movie theaters, sports and entertainment venues, and most places you would normally actually go to probably won't let you carry a backpack, regardless of what's inside. Most handguns are concealable on the body and don't require a backpack. 3. Carrying a pack can make you a target itself. Criminals will be more likely to attack you if they think they can get more out of the attempt. They don't have to know there is a rifle inside, just that you have more stuff to steal. If they succeed, you just armed a criminal with a high-powered, semi-auto rifle they may not otherwise have been able to get. 4. In the case of a mass shooting or similar situation, unless you are authorized to be there, LEOs may mistake you for the perp or accomplice. This is more towards involving yourself in a mass shooting than what weapon you choose, but if you were a LEO and saw someone you don't recognize at or near the scene carrying an AR... well I think you can fill in the blanks. 5. Rifles have high energy, high penetration, and great distance. You could very easily injure or kill an innocent person or people even at hundreds of yards away far outside the intended target range. You don't have the right to endanger innocent lives to protect your own, at least not if there are steps that you can take to help prevent it (like carrying a handgun). There is always this danger regardless of firearm, but rifles compound the issue. 6. No matter how small you make them, rifles are heavy, bulky, and less effective at maneuverability and speed than a handgun in the likely scenarios you will use them here. 7. The additional size/weight of a heavy pack will slow you down if you need to flee or get to cover. Also making it more difficult to move around tight areas like in and around vehicles (which will be the first thing you do, since its not quick deploy) or moving through entryways, windows, tight hallways, etc. and can more easily snag or get caught up during deployment. 8. Whether you agree or not, it is illegal to conceal a loaded rifle (although AR pistols may be a different matter, that's not what you're carrying). It shouldn't be, but it is. You are MUCH more likely to be searched and arrested than actually using it in any scenario. You will likely go to jail, weapons confiscated, and you won't be able to purchase a firearm or NFA item ever again. Even if you do successfully use it to defend yourself or others, you will likely STILL be arrested for carrying it illegally in the first place (assuming they can prove it was already loaded or otherwise illegal firearm use). What happens to your loved ones now? This is a VERY important consideration. Your worth to your family doesn't only extend to defense. Also, I'm assuming that is a registered SBR since it has a stock and you are showing it publicly no? If you are going to break the law anyway why go through that process? 9. Very short barrels are often times unreliable and the ammo may not perform as intended. 300blk for example may not expand as designed (or at all) with many types of ammo from a 5 inch barrel, subs or supers. 10. Anyone who has shot a very short rifle knows how incredible the flash, volume, and concussive force is. It is like a flash bang going off in front of your face especially indoors or in confined spaces. If you're using subs with .300blk from that short a barrel to reduce this, they will be no more effective than most pistol rounds (even less than some). 11. The money spent on a specific setup like this could be better used for training with something you likely already have, like a handgun. That is something we ALL need more of. 12. Some may say their reasoning is to penetrate soft armor. Only supers will do this from that short a barrel and it isn't guaranteed depending on distance, ammo type, size of attacker (in terms of reaching vital organs after penetration), additional clothing or gear under or over armor, or type of armor itself, which you can't predict. The VAST majority of shootings don't involve body armor. Although still possible, so is winning the Powerball. However if that is still a concern for you, rounds like 5.7 will penetrate most soft armor and can be shot from a handgun. Also, an attacker wearing armor does not mean they are impervious to bullets in general obviously. There are many other places to hit a target other than the chest especially if they are visibly wearing armor. Also, pistol rounds don't just bounce off soft armor. Most of the energy is still transferred. They may not die from it, but if someone smashed you in the chest with a sledgehammer do you think you'd still be good to go? How about multiple times in quick succession to the same area? 13. Typically comfort isn't a strong consideration for not using a specific setup. In the case of daily carry however, a handgun is much easier and more comfortable than a 10 pound pack. I think that's something worth considering at least. 14. This may ruffle some feathers, but I believe it to be true nonetheless and should be mentioned. In terms of a potential mass shooting or similar situation, unfortunately most people don't have the necessary training to be useful in these high-stress scenarios with lives on the line. Often times they can prove more of a liability. Honestly, we don't want a bunch of yahoos imagining themselves John Wick running around with rifles making decisions they aren't qualified to make. This may endanger lives needlessly or distract the LEOs from their jobs, as worthless as they sometimes may seem. This isn't true in every scenario or with every person. Some things can't be avoided especially in the heat of the moment. However I would rather not have Jim-Bob with the hi-point he bought last Thursday rushing into a scenario like this, especially when people I care about are involved. Would you? Bonus 1: Why are you carrying armor in your pack? If you're that concerned, why not actually WEAR a soft armor vest under your clothing? There are endless options to choose from Bonus 2: A law folder must be deployed outside of taking a single shot. Although they are shorter, when folded they make the rifle wider. If you are going to carry a rifle for the purpose of actual deployment, using a collapsible stock or brace and getting a slightly longer pack will slim the setup and allow you to immediately fire the weapon repeatedly vs having one shot or taking the extra time to unfold for more. Also, the law folder weighs nearly a pound itself, costs hundreds of dollars, and if anything at all blocks the device you won't be able to unfold it quickly either. There is that much more to go wrong. Backpack guns are for transportation or "Bugout" which is its own debate. I think we can put this one to rest.

I don’t EDC one but anytime I’m going outta town or on vacation or anything other than the day to day stuff I bring a rifle caliber pistol in a bag. Either a Gen 2 Galil Ace 7.62x39 8” with a folding brace. A 8” 300blk or a 10.3” 556 and with both the AR’s I roll with the upper and lower taken down. I feel like if I have time to get into my bag then I have time to pop two pins, the takedown and pivot pins, load a mag and rack the charging handle. In a situation where I need something right then that second it’s going to be the edc G19. I defend have nothing against having an edc rifle on a bag. My biggest concern in an active shooting situation is that the police won't be able to determine who's who with a gun or not; and the law abiding citizens using their 2A right to protect themselves and others from criminals may be shot by police, at the very least they will be arrested and charged. As we've seen all too often, no good deed by law abiding citizens to protect themselves and others from criminals goes unpunished. Because no good deed goes unpunished in today's society, I will not risk helping anyone I don't know; if you're an adult, it's up to YOU to protect yourself and your loved ones. What's crazy is that you speak about leveling the playing field when it comes to dealing with a mass shooter and carrying a rifle certainly flattens the curve, but even then you still have significantly less firepower than those willing to do harm if you consider they are 1. Most likely to have body armor that cover their vitals not just an insert of soft body armor in a bag, 2. Will most likely have a chest rig that allows them to carry more rounds of ammunition and aid to quicker re loads. 3. Will most likely have a full powered 16 inch rifle that will be significantly more capable than a 5 inch pdw. 4. Will have the advantage of surprise when you are probably at your most vulnerable, especially when you take into account the time it takes to deploy your rifle. With all these things considered its insane there are people that will still claim its overkill.

Just a few weeks ago a man in La fought off 2 attackers on his own property with his "California compliant" 10 rd magazine. After the conflict he was left with 2 rounds of ammunition, he did not strike a single one of them and thankfully the attackers ran but they DID return fire as they fled and if they had decided to stick around and fight he would have been over powered and shot dead without a doubt. I live in the city of Chicago and never recommend putting a rifle in a bag due to many snatch and grabs. Live in the hood for at least a year and then you'll know common street knowledge. I think your definition of urban is more suburban. I believe your reason to carry a rifle is more to be vigilante and not for your own personal defense. With many experiences of seeing people getting into confrontations living in the hood, you will never have enough time to remove it from the bag and unfold your weapon to stop the threat.

You have to check your local CCW laws. CCW permits on most states are for handguns only and not for rifles. Though a rifle with a pistol brace is technically pistol, good luck debating that with the mall cop or the officers responding to the call while other people are watching. You will have to pay a lawyer for anybody to listen that you’re carrying a “rifle” with high-capacity mags in public is to even the odds just in case there’s a mass shooter. And your lawyer has to beat the evening news before it gets out a “person with a rifle with 30-round mags” got arrested at the local movie theater. With a handgun, they might politely ask you to leave or leave your handgun in your car. But with a rifle, you will definitely miss the movie and might not even go home. Though it could be legal, cops will investigate your intent on carrying a rifle (braced pistol, etc.). Expect your social media history and even shopping history split wide open. If your finances, job and family can handle that ordeal, then go ahead. Nobody will ever hear or care that you got vindicated after, only that you’re forever the guy who got caught with an assault rifle inside the mall. That’s how the news, public and your peers will remember you. I was that guy with the rifle - until I learned the hourly rates of defense lawyers and some security randomly run metal detector wands on bags.

Hey Jared, I really enjoy hearing your pearls of wisdom like "gun rights are human rights," etc. I would like to know of some books or essays that have shaped your views. Have you written anything on these subjects we can read online? Would you share a reading list perhaps in a future video?

I carry a cmmg decent 5.7 in a bag . I thought this was going to be lessons and theory on how to do it better . This is just preaching . How many times can you say the same thing over and over

dissent 5.7 is probably the best compromise on an EDC bag gun I can think of

I carry my MPX as a rifle. The tricky part was finding a bag that would fit it with the suppressor attached. Suppressors are both awesome and cumbersome. But I believe they're worth it.

Good stuff... not alot of folks understand the why, and they don't need to.

Hey Jared, I appreciate and commend you for you comments at the end of the video, I admire yout courage and your patriotism, that converted me to a customer, I'll look at your website and you'll get my orde soon. BTW I'd love to talk to you about legal issues when it come to carrying a rifle/carbine, something bigger than a handgun.

I really like the video. Intelligent assessment of what is happening in America today. I have amost finished a backup car/truck AR pistol. I have a gen 4SA folder and a echo sport. 7.5 barrel with Beek Arms brake and blast shield.

I got a few Vertx bags and all do exactly as asked and a lot more. My MPX K fits perfectly with a bunch of extra fuel for her. Not sure of the models but I got 2 medium sized and fairly large one that hides the molle system well and has a lot of options.
