Urban Gentry MIA | Squale 1545 Two Weeks On The Wrist Review 

Been tempted by these for a while. I've had a 1521 for a year or so and it's been a superb watch. Very reliable and well built.

I've bought 2 watches from Gnomon in their Singapore store. It's a beautiful location and store. You couldn't ask for a nicer and more helpful crew. Great company!

Absolutely great video Mike I lusted for that watch for a year and then I bought the phoibos oo7 kind of took the itch away but man just to own a squale would be pretty badass ... on a side note I really appreciate tgv he puts a lot of effort into it I like his personality I don't care about his personal business

Had a question regarding Nomon watches....Since they’re located in Asia (Singapore I think), did you have to pay any import taxes, tariffs, or fees? And shipping....was it included with purchase? I purchased a watch this year from the U.K., and honestly, it was a nightmare, and expensive when you consider shipping (additional $), and import fees collected by DHL.

Great video and review and its good to see a watch channel not putting the boot in on the urban gentry channel . some of the content on other watch channels about this subject is appalling. whether you like the urban gentry or not we are all supposedly interested in the same thing , watches !

What do you think of the gmt ? Is it a buy?

I think the Steinhart Diver's are around US$400, which is like US$170 cheaper (or at a 29% discount). However, I am not certain whether the Steinhart finish is the same, better or worse than the Squale's.... Never seen either in the flesh.

Did you have to pay customs or any import duties when you ordered from gnomon?

I need some model aeroplanes. I've got a spitfire but the wingspan is about 30 inches so it's a bit big for a prop.

I don't know if this helps viewers but I wear the 42mm Squale 30 atmos ceramic - à very similar watch to this one. I can categorically assure people it is considerably nicer quality than the steinHart ocean 1. The Squale has better proportions - more a classic style. I have handled the SteinHart and it is much flatter across the case - I did not find this attractive. The steinHart I handled only had the aluminium bezel insert but the ceramic version on my Squale is far nicer IMO, and looks a lot better than the online pics of the SteinHart ceramic. the Only thing I am not so keen on is the clasp. There is nothing wrong with it - it has a little dive extension etc - but it is just unremarkable. The rest of the watch is of a much higher standard. Personally I absolutely love the oversized crown. I am absolutely delighted that I did not buy a SteinHart. The 30 atmos is a clear level above IMO. I own a Tudor as my 'best' watch and Wear the Squale as my daily wearer. I highly recommend it.

What makes you think TGV was demonetized?

He posted about the reason for his absence on the UGWC Facebook group. He said he's been spending time with an ill family member and is taking a break from creating videos in order to spend as much time as possible with them.

I’m pretty sure he used copy righted material on his grand seiko video from a few weeks back. If you look, he removed the video on his channel. It’s a shame because that video was wonderfully shot.

Great review of the Squale. Very nice watch. The bracelet is a problem, though. The Phoibos PY007 does the same thing, and it's my least favorite thing about that very nice watch.

Squale watches are excellent. They've only taken a hit because a lot of snobs are jealous of someones success.

I've only gotten into automatic watches, and don't know too much background of RU-vidrs, but I've watched quite a few Urban Gentry reviews. Just out of curiosity, but what's with the bad rep of TGV? Just from a glance of the comments, there seems to be a dislike for him and I'm just wondering why exactly? I don't really follow Yotubers on other social media platforms, just watch their content.

I just hope TGV is alright. He seems like a nice person. Back to the watch. I don't know why watch snobs hate Squale watches. They are Swiss made watches. I would need to try one out to give it an honest opinion. They look to be decent watches and not everyone can afford an expensive watch like Rolex, AP, and PP. Better to invest that kind of money in a safe way I think, but if you are wealthy and that kind of purchase does not even hit the radar I can understand. Also the ETA 2824 you can get serviced just about anywhere. Rolex service is very expensive. So are other expensive brands.

Copyright on pictures of watches?!?! That's absurd. There is nothing worth to be protected if somebody thinks he's so unique by making photos of other peoples products. The first theft would be the picture of the watch. Not reusing it.

I was looking for reviews on the Squale and chanced upon this review. I was shocked at the way you hit TGV below the belt. TGV is even stronger on you tube today. You are hitting a man without him here to defend himself. You need to speak slower and with more finesse. You are pale compared to TGV. He now has 481,000 subscriibers. You have only 10,000 subscribers. Lisping doesn't help either. Have a good day mikey

The Mercedes hour hand I distaste on any watch!! I had one and it took a dump! just not reliable.

I don't care a fig about the so called infringement of copyright, it's a joke is not, all I can say is give Urban Gentry a break, what ever the reason that's his problem to sort out. He was one of the stalwarts of the watch fraternity, very down to earth and good at what he did, there is plenty of room for everyone else to promote their work. I send him my regards and hope all is well with him and his family and dog. Hope to see you pop up down the track.

Don't miss TGV one bit. Unsubscribed from his channel about a year ago. Good riddance. Much prefer supporting the humble, smaller guys. To each his own though. Just my 2¢. Good review. Thanks for pointing out some of those design peculiarities. I think the crown would likely be a problem for me since I wear my watches on the bone. Wouldn't mind the bracelet on my 6-1/2" wrist, but good to bring it to our attention. The cyclops looks to actually be usable. I generally find the magnification too small and wonder why designers even include them if they aren't going to actually work for the wearer. Another thoughtful review.
