This is an amazing design thank you for sharing this I'm going to go off red very soon and we're looking for some property in South Carolina and this is an amazing water catchment system I can't wait I have been watching and looking at everything that I can find on the permaculture movement and everything and honestly I grew up pretty much doing this without knowing what it was cuz of my grandmother and my grandfather thank you so much thank you so so much for helping God bless

When you removed the panel, I noticed you don’t have the tanks interconnected via the tote valve at the bottom. How are your tanks connected? I imagine there is a pvc pipe that feeds them from the top, but how do you use the water from the tote? Clearly it’s not going to run OUT the top… I think I’m missing something… I LOVE the panels and will be making something similar for mine…

The tops of the totes should be protected from sunlight.

You can see that they added the black poly covering the tote to protect it and to stop sunlight into the water causing algae bloom. It’s actually a white UV treated poly tank underneath.

@@davidhick4303 Looks like only the sides are covered with the black poly. The tops still look uncovered. Think the black poly was for esthetic purposes.

Not so. The tanks are sealed and to the best of my knowledge, there's a filter at the pipe openings, to keep the bugs out...

How long can you store this water for? Could it be captured in February and stored for use in July?

It doesn't go "bad" if that's what you're asking. Depends on your climate. Freezing water will tend to break containers and pipes so be careful. Insulating or storing water underground is an option but may raise the cost. The example in the video is seasonal.

@@cupbowlspoonforkknif What about only fill the tank halfful for winter so that it has room for expansion, would that help with water freezing and not break containers. I have 6 of them side by side. Still trying to figure out how to set them all up as I am new at this. Thank you.
