Hi everyone, today I'm sharing with you my afternoon at Yaletown, Vancouver. I sat inside Angus T. Cafe and sketched the view on my left side. It was a challenging but fun perspective. It took me 35 minutes for the line work, and 20 minutes for the watercolors. Please watch the video until the end to learn lots of ink and watercolor inspirations and techniques to sketch and paint a complicated interior, and how to sketch people. 😊🎨
🎨 Materials I used:
- Uni-Pin 0.8mm Drawing Pen
- Uni-pin Brush Pen
- Etchr watercolors (24 half pans)
- Etchr Sketchbook
- Holbein Water Brush (large tip)
- Sakura Water Brush (medium tip)

Becky, thanks to your encouragement, I have started sketching things around my house-rather than looking for the perfect thing to sketch. Your videos have inspired me to find the sketching opportunities in the every day things. Thank you!

Becky, this is the exact kind of urban sketching that I want to do. I just LOVE your style. I am going on a trip to San Diego in just a couple weeks. I know I will find many sceneries to sit down and draw. I hope I can do at least half of how good you are. Thank you for sharing your talent with all.

Another motivating video! I love that you just keep going even if the arm looks a bit too long. I give up so easily on the page when i make a mistake in the body proportion of the figure when i do urban sketching in a cafe. I should give it another go. I should remind myself i am not making a masterpiece in the pages of my sketchbook but documenting personal experiences. Awesome! I admittedly lost capturing many special moments because i get too critical of my pages. You are a real inspiration. Thank you!

I liked it when you said ‘she seems to be looking at me’, and proceeded to hide her with your thumb. Angus T is a play on the word angst, I think; weird name for a wonderful little coffee shop?! Yeah, I think you did pretty well, I thought you’d forgotten the close up area for a minute there. Another great double-page spread. I hope you put some tissue paper between the pages. I can just imagine it sticking and peeling.

watercolour paint does not make the pages stick together. Acrylic does, although there are new innovations lately like the soflat matte acrylic paint and there's another one i can't remember offhand. These matte acrylic paints can be used for sketchbook spreads without the pages sticking together.

@@alphashanahan4323 you only need a little bit of liquid leaking in to ruin a nice picture, the color gets moist again if there’s a big dollop. It happened to me, but I put different things in my colors, to enhance it and brighten it up, so you are right. But I still leave it open long enough to dry before I close it.👍

When you run out of a color, do you buy another watercolor brick, or do you buy a watercolor tube and squirt the paint into the old paint pan? Just curious on your methods of replenishing your pallet. You're very inspiring to watch. Love your channel. Ty from Ohio. A beginner in watercolor painting. 👋😁

Becky do you have a clip that is in real time? To get an indication how much time is spent sketching. I understand you say it 2 times the speed but I would love to see a real time one and was wondering if you have one on. I love what you do thank you.
