Thanks for another great one, Toby! I always enjoy the chill vibes here on your channel. The palette reminds me of a calculator, anyone else?

I love how you always give practical tips regarding the outside circumstances of urban sketching. How you feel weather and light changes, seating options, packing light etc. Out of all urban sketching channels, you probably have the most realistic tips and it's always so nicely explained.

This was so nice to see. It just goes to show a limited palette is a good way to go.

Great sketch Toby. Simple fix, just don’t attach the water and palette while you are sketching, you don’t need them yet!. Once you start painting there will likely be a sensible place to clip them!!😊

Loved this. You inspired me to pop over to the Slaughters for a visit and to take some inspiration pictures. The finished sketch is beautiful.

Another very charming piece of art. I'm loving the colors. The ones listed in the blog post for this have some colors I've never heard of. I would love to see a demo of these pigments and talk about these choices. BTW thank you for all your vids and courses. They have helped me so much!!!

Hi Toby, a really lovely sketch of a beautiful place. I love the colours you used. I still tend to look at a scene and end up trying to ‘match’ what I see. I keep trying not to! Loved the little palette. Thanks again.

Oh, I have seen these little palettes, but wasn't sure if they would be really any good. Thanks so much for the video and thoughts. I've ordered one now on Etsy. Busting to get it - will be here in time for Spring in the land of Oz, and I will be able to fit my kit in pockets or a wee bag. Thanks, Toby!!

My husband made me a sketching easel with built in magnets, and inner storage. I can carry two 24 count metal pallets , brushes, collapsible water pot and cloth inside the easel. Collapsible silicone bottle for water clipped to my bag (with sketchbooks) and I'm all set.

Joy to see this little film! I’ve just bought an A5 size journal book and an 8-well version of that pallete of yours to start writing down some of my thoughts interspersed with some small paintings, etc. I love your loose style of painting and keep trying to get away from my obsession with perfection! The splashes of colour make me smile every time, the way they bring areas of painting together for so little effort is quite extraordinary. Don’t recoil from the name “Slaughter” btw. It is ancient and means “place of the sloes”. There are a lot of blackthorn hedges and shrubs in the area 🙂

Love this simple set up, and the finished sketch. I don’t get my paint out until I’ve done the basic sketch and are ready to use them (probably because of how long it takes me). Also because I’m fairly new to all this, I always have paper towel or clothe to clean the mixing area as I never seem to have enough space (I have a Winsor & Newton sketcher’s pocket set). Hoping to need less space the more experience I get! Thanks for sharing.

Another great vid Toby…I have been using (experimentally) charcoal watercolors for contrast and subdued shadows as they are very transparent. They also help make a gloomy day even gloomier if that’s an effect I’m after 😊! What do you or others think?

Do you have a link to where you got that darling little pallette. It looks so cute! I have a very tiny one that fits to your finger/thumb via a velcro strap that has 6 little holes. The creator 3d printed it.

Whats your opinion on watercolour markers over traditionalpalette?
@TobySketchLoose
@TobySketchLoose Месяц назад
they are so very different, the question is quite broad so I'm not sure how to answer. there's a reason everyone uses watercolour paints would be my simple answer.

Sure. Tiny? I’ll take those Dots out to paint 🙂 I don’t think there’s anything “tinier”. When you look, there’s actually a good bit of paint in a “dot”. Highly pigmented paint, how much do you actually need? People who dig in their half pan paint make me cringe. Swipe people swipe. That itty pallet, very nice. I’ve seen many in use on the Tube. I’ll have to look into them further.
