About the artist: As a migrant child in the United States, Federico Cuatlacuatl grew up with a displacement from the “self,” as a Mexican from Cholula, Puebla.
Without romanticizing anything, the artist built a paradoxical exoticism in which subject and matter are a problematic that takes shape as art with performative settings and objects. The kites he makes are discrete samples of his pursuit as a foreigner, in resistance, everywhere.
