Bellend Town was the capital of New York in the 1800s but since 1893, Bellend Town has been a simple, sleepy, bedroom community of Knobville. And since 1897, the capital has been Albany. Frankly surprised Danny didn't include the ridiculous lawsuit against Pokemon due to the Abra line's evolutions using spoons and spoonbending as part of it's schtick. He's the reason Kadabra wasn't included in the TCG for a good while until the lawsuit was dismissed lol.

Geller has threatened to sue many many people for claiming his "talents" are fake, if they have had the money to defend themselves, Geller has **always** pulled out of the court case at the last minute.

I had the privilege of spending a bit of time with James Randy and he really enjoyed telling the story of how he helped his friend Johnny Carson expose Geller. Truly something to be proud of.

When I was in college, there was this magician the Student Activities Council booked every year who did things I still cant explain. One time, he chose me out of the audience of raised hands (I stayed in my seat, if that matters), and told me to think about literally anything I wanted to, and he would work it out on a big sheet of paper in front of everyone. I literally just sat and looked at him while he wrote/drew. Not only did he get Star Trek right, but he knew it was specifically The Next Generation and wrote "DATA" in the lower right of the sheet. Data is my favorite Star Trek character.

Calling Albany, New York "Bell End Town" might be the most apt description ever.

When I was a early teen we had really cheap forks and spoons. They would bent when used more or less normally. When I heard about Uri Geller I wouldnt know why he makes a big deal out of bending a spoon, ours would bent by default. If you deliberately try to do so sure as hell you could easily deform and break them, even when using only two or three fingers and the right grip. Why is he on TV for that nonesense ? So I took some of them to class and I would bent them in front of their eyes while making a little bit of a show for them for the dramatic effect... many (not all) were speechless. Not all because some of them knew the truth. That were the ones that, after and before the bending / breaking, would confirm that these spoons and forks are indeed normal ones (haha) and absolutely no flimsy pieces of trash (haha again). Lasted roughly for a week before it was discovered. But untill this my partners in crime and I would laugh our asses off and even earned some bucks and food in bets from the most stupid spectators. I can totally understand the snake oil guys, even without financial motivation, the gullibility of some folks on itself is payment enough.

I had vaguely remember him as the bent spoon guy and now only really remember him now as the guy who got a whole ass pokemon banned for a while.

The reason Nickleback is hated so much is cause they're Canadian. Really. Canada has laws where a certain percentage of their TV/radio space had to be taken up with Canadian stuff, since they were their biggest band, they got overplayed to hell on radio up there and then hated by the population cause it would be like every 3rd-5th song on the radio and that's where it came from, then everyone just jumped on the bandwagon (no pun intended.) Rockstar (the one Simon sings) is actually a really good song and I feel really bad for them getting hated so much.

Kinetic watches weren't around back then. There were 2 theories, people wound them up and a percentage just started to work again and the other was that digital watches warmed up in the hand and just re-invigorated the ailing battery for a bit more life. It was nowt to do with self winding watches, only high class, therefore expensive watches had that feature back in the 70's / early 80's

The other reason psychics can make watches start working again, without necessarily touching the watch (i.e. through the TV), is by holding the watch so that the hands warm the watch. This softens oil which has often clogged the works and the watch starts working.

Actually (🤓), the Timex commercial shows the Uri look-a-like succeeding at bending the fork and the key, but failing to bend the Timex watch. The idea being that a Timex watch was just that tough, w/ the tag line of the ad being it can "take a licking and keep on ticking".

The look alike lawsuit is similar to the one from "Back to the Future" involving Crispen Glover. He didn't reprise his role as George McFly, so someone was made into a Shemp.

Uri geller was very famous in my youth and now I wonder how famous he actually is. I thought it was a German phenomenon like the hoff or bud spencer. Sure well known stars, but in Germany they were really, really famous. Achat, steim, shalosh.

Nintendo hate him, he sued them over a Pokémon card in the 90s. The creature bore no resemblance to him other than a similar name if you squint from a mile away, psychic power, and spoons. He sued them over defamation of character, lost but maintained a ban on that Pokémon being printed on cards until very recently. I'm guessing that there wasn't a formal C&D involved, Nintendo just didn't want to be dragged into more lawsuits given the history of the property.

Australia's capital is Canberra, their largest inland city, but 8th largest overall, hence the general confusion. Don't worry, in New Zealand, the capital is in the "middle" of the country in the second largest city. None of which makes sense.

I watched the entire Carson video and I commented. Carson who Wayne Newton pointed out was a "mean spirited person". Carson everyone knew Geller used his own props and various methods used by magicians since the beginning of time. Geller is not supposed to get up "this spoon is alloy barely solid at room temp what I will do is fake". so Carson fellow magician sets up the person in which he had been told would be an interview that for his magic it must be done in controlled conditions as all magicians. It was a cruel assassination.

My uncle did it, I can do it, there is no mystery, humans are basically mini electric generators, it is just a question of focusing energy, bending spoons is not hard, the worse part is I cannot use a watch, mechanic or digital, they stop working after some time, the coming of cellphones was a blessing, I can have a watch that works. So bending spoons is just picking up the spoon, and focusing energy on your hands, masseuses do it, martial artists - I also learned three styles of martial art since I was seven - do it. Reading minds is not possible, but you can infer from the reactions, vocalized or not, from people, what they are thinking. Using that focusing for "repairing" anything or reading minds is utter nonsense. Interesting one.

He does indeed have this kind of claim at the very beginning of his crap novels, claiming that "the following story and details are all based on reality..." only to sometimes end with a similar note, mentioning that he made that false claim - that he lied - merely to try to make the story better! After sitting through _TDVC,_ chock full of his hacky story; his short chapters that all end in suspense to ensure you keep reading; his spelling errors that nobody caught before the book was printed; the hammering home of information that was already made obvious, as though Brown was intent on saying "get it?" until you acknowledge that you "see what I did there?" and how cool and clever it was for him to re-traverse well-worn literary paths and be so ignorant to think himself a trailblazer... only to be rewarded for sticking with it by reading his admission that he had lied to me(!) to force his story to work. @Brain Blaze I'm semi torn on this guy's, I was born in 84' so I'm not a young buck, but I am American so maybe that's why I don't know this guy? But still kinda curious what the big deal was? Did people think it was real magic? Even when I was a kid (6 or 7) watching David Copperfield I knew it was just a "Illusion" and never really thought real magic was taking place lol EDIT: LOL OK I should have finished the video first.
