This was fun. Mekanisk boards are always so pleasing to look at and really are just fun boards. It does what it sets out to do, make a premium tray mount board and that's in stock. It comes with some foams to help tune your sound, but they don't make anything sound foamy, which is all preference at the end of the day.
I do wish they had the stock PCB tweaked to allow the potential to o-ring mount this for some added flexibility with customization, but it can be done with an aftermarket PCB.

@@involuntarysoul3867 they are a norwegian company that design their own cases and pcbs as well as other accessories from what i understand. I've built with a case from them before as a small commission for one of my friends and he fell in love with it. its pretty decent and really good with you want something that is both tray mount and really good with options for o ring gasket mount

@@involuntarysoul3867 Mekanisk are GOATs, soo many Fjell builds on YT because they are in-stock most of the time and reasonably priced. One of the first boards I built was a Fjell and it's still in my top 3

Out of the 8+ keyboards in my collection, I find myself always coming back to the Urskog. It may not be for everyone, and it doesn't have the best sound profile, but I can say it is my absolute favorite board I own. There's just something about that iconic angular Mekanisk look. I love it!

The two cuts on stuff like this Wilba PCB and the SNOP60 are pretty nice, they kinda help isolate the alphas a bit more and give a bit more relief if you have a stiffer config going, while not thinning sound much at all

I think the $295 price is only for the case though, the Plate and PCB are sold separate which bring the price up about another $100 or so

You can modify it to be gummy o ring, just like people have done with Tofu cases

@@ImOnMy116 Well you can also put o rings on the standoffs, like a burger mount. Also in the Fjell the standoffs are removable, don't know about this one though. Maybe just do burger mount on the 4 outer standoffs

I think you got him wrong on the "not bad" part. I think Alex think that the sound is "not bad" for a tray mount. Other the acoustic and typing feel, which are subjective, the asthetic, finish, color and quality are pretty nice for 300$, it's not cheap but it's ok for that price.

I mean, to be fair there are so many aspects to a keyboard. When i say it's not too bad, i mean i don't mind it for what it is, which is a tray mount board. It's so subjective, too. Me not liking or liking something may be different to others. I don't think i would go out of my way to purchase this board with what i have in my collection, but if i loved the aesthetic enough, it's not a bad keybaord.

Tray mount is massively overhated. Original Tofu65 is goated with some mods. Mekanisk stuff is endgame sound wise. I think people hate Tray mount because the original tofu60 is a pingy mess

Mekanisk stuff isn't anything crazy IMO. It doesn't sound bad but nowadays, there are so many options on the more affordable end of the hobby which sound outright good. As a result, settling for a board which is 'not bad' is hard to justify.
