It felt like the Biden govt was a contestant in India's elections. It felt like an intrusion on our sovereignty. To hear that same Biden govt then complaining about foreign meddling - something they themselves nakedly engaged in - really makes me roll my eyes.🙄

These days, democracy is in a suspicious state everywhere to one degree or the other. You have populists trying to consolidate power in many countries - often in ways that don't respect the desires or interests of citizens who aren't from the winning party. In India, BJP appears to have consolidated power. In Pakistan, the establishment blocked Imran Khan, who would have liked to consolidate power with him being at the top and able to force his vision. Which option is really better, long term... Who can say. The one benefit of consolidation of power though (even if it's not very democratic), is that that group can then take decisive action easily without anyone able to stop them... For better or worse.
