There are some guys who think that they can start ww3 and somehow contain it in a specific region, this is impossible, everyone will suffer if this really happens...
I don't thing it going well for China. Xi Jinping just had to replace his number 2 general for the CCP military. So things are getting worse within China. If there is a fight it looks like Xi Jinping has totally gutted his military.
This is why I always say The West is blind with one eye. They never see the implications that their actions could result in severe blowback. Like a child they won't believe their action have consequences and they will never admit other nations also have autonomy of action that they cannot stop or delay

If that is correct. I guess most SEA nation would be willing to give it back because we know that Taiwan is more peaceful nation and they are more civilized so negotiations will be a lot better if that is the case.
you should know why china did not faced Philippines in the court of UNCLOS. the documentary evidences of the Philippines is overwhelming. you are only talking 1952.
@@juliousmabunay8844 For your information, all courts manned by Western counterparts are biased and weak in judgement. They are there to mislead transparency and protect the interest of the West so China knowingly noted and doesn't trust them.
So amusing to see the CSIS guy trying to pick his words on why the Philippines went so loud., avoiding saying that it was the US who made the PH to do what it does now.
You're mistaken. The Philippines are independent of Columbia. It even got Columbia to withdraw all its military bases. Columbia has somewhat come back at the countenance of the Philippines. I doubt very much that Columbia bullied the Philippines in order to come back somewhat.
@@Ernesto_Che_Guevarra phil had an agreement with China before, then phil denied it because their president needs to assure his billions of us dollars in an us bank... LOL
The purpose of a mutual defense treaty is to deter.. If deterrance fails, then the agressor has incurred the response from the third party. If the partners in the mutual defense treaty take no action to deter, then the treaty is, in effect, a dead letter.
You guys didn’t do your study. The Philippine situation is unique. It’s because Chinese has a military base inside ECZ of the Philippines. Some of the Chinese base is less than hundred miles
Both countries financially depend on each other a us China war would bankrupt both countries the US and China don't have to like each other but they have to get along for their own sakes
The 2 issue are On Chinas side: they need to realize their 10 dash line means nothing and the international community disapproves of Chinas claim in asean EEZ areas. They need to stop harassing the Philippines in this area. China also has to stop with land grabs with its neighbors. The USA: needs to not be so scared to be in a world with 2 global powers. The main issue is the USA and Philippine mutual defense treaty. If China keeps pissing off the Philippines they will call on the USA to help protect their sovereignty. The USA will do this mainly to keep China in check cuz they want to be the sole super power of such a level. Does the USA have the right intentions? No. It’s doing the right thing for the wrong reason. I could go on about each country but I’ll leave it there. And no. As a us citizen I don’t want war with China. I would actually like to visit but I don’t think they would be happy with Americans even in the country
It's not. It's preventable. There's no reason for a clash between the USA and China, especially being both nuclear powers that could drag the world into total anihilation.
@@yetao5801 The CCP has more border disputes than any other country on the planet. Pretty much all of their neighbours distrust them (even Russia). An independent court found that the CCP claims to the whole of the South China Sea are baseless and rooted in fiction. In short the CCP has been lying "since ancient times".
If you're a Chinese general and you see the map of all the U.S bases in the far east and the U.S constantly threatening to block your oil shipments or ships that export stuff to the rest of the world then you'll understand why these claims even exist. It's to basically allow for the building of islands that could protect China's supply lines in the event of war.
just remember it is a European tradition to launch a war when one believes one has the advantage of the moment. that's the whole reason why germany wanted war in 1914.
Deterrence didnt stop russia. Because the stakes werent that high. Taiwan being invaded would not trigger a nuclear war similarly. However it would trigger a huge conventional war.

"U.S being dragged into conflict" is the funniest thing I've read all week. Like they were dragged into Iraq, Afghanistan, vietnam, korea, Libya... poor America being forced into all these conflicts against their will😂

A war with China is also a war with whole of Southeast Asia. Most of Southeast Asian modern post-war economies from Bangkok to Jakarta and Manila were built by industrialists of Chinese descent with Singapore, a majority ethnic Chinese city-state as financial hub. This will affect sizeable part of world population.
As the Western economies are in shambles, it's the intention by the US and the West to disrupt the economy of the SEA countries in order to compensate theirs.
a war with southeast asia? what are you talking about? southeast asia isnt exactly impressed with chinese attitude in that region.. in fact Manila/Philippines is a strong ally of USA.

In terms of the Philippines, there is a legitimate mutual defence treaty that would need to be followed unless the US wants to be seen as an unreliable country by the international community. The treaty is pretty iron-clad. In regards to other countries, like Taiwan, I have no say.
Australia went through a period of China won’t answer the phone nonsense, when Australian pushed for an international inquiry into the source of Covid-19.
Spending only 1% of GDP on its military, Philippines shows little intention of defending their rights. Should the US help a nation that does not help itself??
Their last president rolled out the red carpet for China to steal more of their territory, which speaks a lot about their intention to defend their rights. Now they expect the US to protect them.
are you clueless? lol. Confrontations with China happen all the time in the South China Sea. We're receiving more and more multi role fighters from Sweden and South Korea, dozens of Coast Guard ships from Japan, new Navy ships from South Korea, Indonesia, France, and Australia, India just recently delivered their brand new Brahmos hypersonic missiles which is the fastest in the world, Israel delivered brand new artillery and radar systems, a few months ago the UK delivered brand new assault rifles for the army. There's so much more going on. To say we show little intention is insane when we're always confronting China every day and procuring new military equipment every month. We already have a modernization framework in place and we're sticking to it for the foreseeable future.
Even though the title is technically accurate, it doesn't exactly convey what it sounds like is happening with these "direct talks." If these two men aren't actually counterparts and the Chinese official holds no power and therefore can not actually make any agreements, then this is some variety of theatre. China doesn't make any real effort to mend the relationship and gets to make up whatever narrative about this meeting it decides to to the various audiences they have or are trying to get. All that said, Austin still has to go there and make a genuine attempt at being good faith and hope China is interested in doing the same.

Marcos made Philippines a legendary fool in history as the first and only country in the world allowing a foreign force to occupy 9 war military bases in its motherland.
you're clearly not aware of modern American sentiments. the US has no desire to attack China or get pulled into another war and Americans would never support it unless China attacked first or there was some enormous red line crossed that leaves no other option

The very simple reason is that the U.S.A. Navy underwrote for decades already global maritime peace, security, and prosperity via fighting piracy and buttressing the freedom of navigation. The U.S.A. will *NOT* allow anyone, any military, any country, or any state, to carve out a region thereby infringing upon global peace, security, and prosperity.
