While most know about what happened in Appomattox on April 9, 1865, the preceding week is crucial in understanding why General Robert E. Lee surrendered to General Ulysses Grant. David Lintern, a volunteer from James A. Garfield National Historic Site, explains the series of losses and calamities that influenced Lee's decision.

I read a very good book told from Travelers point of view during the war. Traveler was Lees favorite horse. Poor Traveler doesn't understand Lee's funeral. It turns out Traveler lived longer than Lee

One of the most informative hour I have spent in my life. I’m inspired to go to Google and purchase an audio book on the subject.

I was stunned to hear how long the wagon trains were. After Gettysburg battle the Unions wagon train with dead dying and wounded would be 17 Miles long

Easy for Davis to say he wasn't in the trenches starving taking bullets

Somebody, I think it was LTC Marshal. Lee had two officers on his staff for the most part. Marshal mostly arms and ammo. LTC Taylor was food etc. That said, he was on leave, to get married in Richmond I think. I also not sure if he went to Norfolk after the war or after he was married.

Thank you for not ruining it with juvenile computer music. Otherwise, I wouldn't have watched.
