Ground reality kuch aur hai.... Drug manufacturing ke liye basic ingredient hai API jo China control karta hai. China agar APIs ki supply distrupt ya increase kar de toh poori duniya mein medicine ki availability par impact dalega aur cost bhi increase ho jaayegi. Jab tak china se APIs ki dependency drastically reduce nahi hogi koi fayda nahi hoga in longer run... Govt ne APIs ke liye PLI launch ki thi, lekin proper response nahi mila. Reason... Indian pharma Companies dobaara koi bhi financial risk lena nahi chahti , considering past experience. UPA govt ne cheaper medicine ke chakkar mein chinese APIs ko allow kiya tha, anti dumping duty impose nahi kiya; jiske wajah indian API manufacturers compete kar nahi paaye chinese companies ke against. Companies ko darr hai future mein sarkari policy change hui toh unka investment toh doob jaayega...
