Just by placing the question in your intro is the obvious answer on the question on "who runs the show".

I mostly understand and appreciate what the guest is saying, however I think it ignores the role of an organization like AIPAC. The US clearly supports Israel because it's in empire's best interests (so it believes) to do so, however from Israel's perspective it seems they must believe that controlling American politics still matters otherwise they wouldn't put so many resources into it.
