However, let’s not get too ahead of ourselves, but first let’s analyze the M44’s characteristics, talk about how best to equip this vehicle, in what order to learn the perks, and figure out combat tactics.
As always, we will start our review with the simplest. This American artillery, as befits this class of equipment, has a very small margin of safety and, moreover, our basic viewing range is completely useless.
From a security point of view, this device is very weak and this manifests itself in everything. First of all, the M44 performance characteristics have very poor armor. “Naked” numbers already look quite small, and the fact that we have absolutely no slopes in the armor means that there is no need to talk about adjustment. In other words, even the most seedy firefly with a stock gun will penetrate us into any projection, and the arrival of a landmine will leave only a charred carcass in place of our car.
Artillery in our favorite game has another important criterion for survivability - camouflage. But, unfortunately, the American M44 WoT tank received a rather large silhouette and the overall dimensions of the vehicle indicate that the camouflage coefficient in our case is poor.
As for the question of the driving performance of the car, everything is more than worthy. We can say with confidence that the Art SAU M44 World of Tanks has an excellent maximum speed and very decent dynamics, but the maneuverability at our disposal is very, very poor.
Now the time has come to talk about the weapons of our American, and I immediately want to say that although our gun is formidable, there are more terrible guns at the level, however, there are very enviable moments here.
The M44's gun does not have the highest, but very decent one-time damage, as well as a good rate of fire, thanks to which a very convenient process of dealing damage is achieved.
Since the release of update 0.9.18 M44, the tank can only fire high-explosive shells, but now we have the opportunity not only to inflict damage on the enemy, but also to stun enemy vehicles that fall into our fragmentation zone, which is 7 meters around the impact of the shell.
It’s not for nothing that we talk about the difficulty of making an accurate hit with a cumulative projectile, because the big problem with this self-propelled gun is accuracy. The point is that the American M44 artillery has very poor dispersion parameters, but our gun converges really quickly. In addition, we have the best horizontal aiming angles at the level, which in total amount to as much as 60 degrees.
Advantages and disadvantages
Since we have already discussed the main characteristics of this vehicle, as well as the parameters of the weapons, we can draw the first results, that is, it is time to highlight the most important strengths and weaknesses of the M44 World of Tanks Art SPG.
