A different time, with much more wholesome and traditional values. a time before globalism, and patriotism for the people whom you lived around. A time where misinformation was not so widespread and sprinkled in with real information like it is online. A time before entitlement and a time with hardships that let everyone know how fortunate they were to get through them. A time we will never experience again. It was by no means perfect; racism, sexism, etc., but it was a time of do-ers. a time that strong men got us through.

TOUGH AS NAILS! I love how he pauses and says "well" between anecdotes. It's seems so long since I've heard that.

C charlie company, amazing, I just watched another hero John Morgan tell his story of Okinawa, he was in company G that stayed to protect Charlie company's rear or flank while Charlie went up the hill that night to "do their thing" against the Japanese in the caves on that hill. John said it was awesome to watch Charlie company fight all night, watching the tracers and the flamethrowers till they subdued the Japanese. Amazing that these two heroes were in action there at the same time and still are here to tell their story. Thank you Walter for your and all of C Charlie company's service and sacrifice, I have no doubt that I would not be here today, or in a free Australia without you.

This man is so alert, memory fresh and with a strong voice. He's still got that 'devi may care' attitude. I'd love to sit across from him to hear his stories - and I'm 60 years old.

Ive been a caregiver for 8 years and I enjoy listening to veteran storys such as this. My grandpa died when I was 5 so I never got to talk to him about his time in the service but I know he was in WWII and I have his belt buckle and other things to remember him by. Thank you for your service Sir. I love to see people at your age doing well and having such good memory. I once took care of a 104 year old women who could still walk to the bathroom. You and her both are an inspiration. Keep on keepin on Sir :)

2 years later back & sad to hear in the comments this gentleman has left us here on earth. Thank you for your service sir, for your courage & commitment. I’ll say it once again they don’t make men like this anymore. I wish more people in todays society would have more appreciation & interest in hearing these veterans stories. Condolences to his family & may he rest in peace.

One thing he forgot to mention, is he was seriously wounded from shrapnel in his side, as well as his left knee, and constantly bleeding this entire time. He mentioned the wound, but not that he was wounded and on battle in the same day, several times, stacking injuries and going back out.

Sir you are what we call a ww2 hero! A true fighting Marine, trained to carry out a job that me and most others could not even imagine. I am very happy that you survived that hell and I’m privileged to be able to listen to your experiences in the Pacific. From a Navy Veteran, I salute you sir!
