That guy who taught you cool tricks about reducing ZBLL is back this year to tell you all about the exciting new speedsolving method, ZZ-CT! One of the most viable ZZ variants in years, it sets up a LL skip 100% of the time!
But it gets even better! Same recognition as OLL/PLL! 33% 2-gen, 20% OLL skip, ridiculously short and fast cases, and 1/360 chance of LL Skip without setup!
How many "algs" are there? 108 for setup, and 72 to solve everything.
(But I'll teach you some tricks to get that number under 100!)
My color scheme: bit.ly/1G7NiWW
My cuber ProFile: bit.ly/1Oi65BY
My website with 2x2 algs and more: bit.ly/18dgBbB

I know a lot of people in the comments here are saying this is too good to be true. I just want to say that it's not. ZZ isn't as hard as everyone seems to think it is, and this method is 100% the best method ever invented. Roux is close for 2H, in my opinion, but ZZ-CT is slightly better, and significantly better for OH. Caveat: I haven't actually learned the method yet -- I'm in the process of doing so. We will see if this opinion changes in a couple months once I know the whole thing, but I'm pretty sure it won't.
@jakeklassen560
@jakeklassen560 8 лет назад
No way, EOline is not good for OH or 2H, and Roux has everything else that ZZ has, with less moves and faster fingertricks.

@jakeklassen560
@jakeklassen560 8 лет назад
That's just not true. Roux TPS can be insanely high, especially the MU LSE. Also, it's a lot more move efficient, so it doesn't even need 7-8 TPS to be fast. Most fast solvers, including Feliks, agree that RUL TPS sucks for 2H. And of course, EOline is slow no matter how you do it.

Iuri Grangeiro Well Roux is a columns first method, and this a a layer by layer method. This is 2 look last slot, so it's technically a last slot, but kinda not really
@iurigrang
@iurigrang 7 лет назад
Roux is not a columns first method and zz is not a layer by layer method. This is a 2 look LS+LL, roux is a "3 look" LL+DF DB, so yeah, same philosophy
@joeytarnowski6018
@joeytarnowski6018 7 лет назад
Iuri Grangeiro No, Roux is an optimized columns first method. Columns first is when you solve the columns, then the rest. Roux just makes it more ergonomic by solving the RD and LD edges to reduce solving the rest of the cube to 2-gen. But ZZ is technically an EO first method, but it takes a block building LBL approach
@iurigrang
@iurigrang 7 лет назад
LOL, then CFOP is a columns first method, it just makes more ergonomic by solving cross... If your little variation makes so you don't do columns first at all, then it's not a columns first method. What is a block building LBL approach? because ZZ's block building is the less "LBL" part of the method, since you're solving a part of 2 layers freely in no particular order, if anything, the only thing that resembles LBL to me on ZZ is LL.

If you want to know there is like one solid and active person who uses ZZ-CT. Swagrid cubing on RU-vid is very close to sub-10 with it right now and it’s his main method. I think among ZZ users (there are a couple including a sub-7 guy) it’s considered kinda bad, and ZZ followed by full ZBLL is considered the best version of ZZ. Also for 2 handed no one does a line on bottom and just solves cross then does f2l.

@MarcelloSevero
@MarcelloSevero 7 лет назад
Yeah but there's a couple of caveats. First of all, some 2x2 CLL algs screw up the f2l edges, so you would need to use ones that don't. And secondly, this method has around 45 algorithms, whereas simple corner OLL + PLL has just 28.
@bzcubes3061

do people use ZZ for big cubes?
@pogonoah99
@pogonoah99 8 лет назад
Not really, cause on big cubes there will often be parity, which means there will not be an even number of "bad" edges, and therefore you can't make the EOLine. For ZZ to work on big cubes, someone will have to figure out how to do parity before the EOLine.
@Jolofsor
@Jolofsor 8 лет назад
+Noah Fence let's say someone uses hoya on 5x5. leaving a maximum of 8 bad edges and no parity. in theory it's possible right?
@pogonoah99
@pogonoah99 8 лет назад
Well, the EOLine requires a lot of inspection. On big cubes you don't get inspection time when entering the 3x3 stage. So I'd say that CFOP is the only viable method for big cubes, at the moment.

+Ethan585790 Maybe one day... I'm barely sub 15 though lol. Maybe if I worked at it; I might be there in a couple years

hey I have a question so since I just got started I'm practicing my f2l improving and cross and doin 2 look oll and learning my plls is there a timer were I should start to leave that 1step last layer

The problem is that the method that you are learning is CFOP and the one he is demonstrating is a variation on the method ZZ. You will have to learn a totally different method of solving to use it.

+Slitharg it's not *totally* different, the only big change is the EO line, which can be kind of a big change but it's nowhere near as big as going to something like Roux

Next step - 1 algorithm solve. How many algs? oh only about 8,000,000. Compare that to how many states of a cube there are, and that's pips! (Actually, thinking about it, well over half the states possible are already several steps into being solved... how many algorithms would actually be needed straight from a srambled cube?!)

Exactly (43,252,003,274,489,856,000 / 6). There could not be two equal algorithms which solve different scrambles. Except for those that are the same state but the colour is switched. Anyone correct me if i'm wrong.

The problem with ZZ-CT is because TTLL algs are really long and suck.

"We don't compete against each other, we compete against our own times" I disagree. I'm sure most people below 9 seconds are trying to get ahead of other people.

I disagree. I'm sure most people below 9 seconds are trying to get ahead of other people, but they are still trying to beat personal goals. Unless you are the most competitive person, and you go to competitions all the time, you are constantly just trying to beat your own time.
