This USNA fields the only US Military Academy drum and bugle Corps. This corps includes Midshipmen from all classes. The only active duty drum and bugle corps in our Armed Forces is stationed at Marine Barracks, Washington; The famous US Marine Drum and Bugle Corps, "The Commandant's Own". It does more then 400 performances a year throughout the nation. For Plebes these young people are putting on one hell of fine review. "Bravo Zulu", USNA.
I notice that the majority of the cadets are wearing a white jerkin and a black 'tie' and others are earing tucked in white shirts and black belts, though all seem to be wearing the same pattern head dress. Is it a rank thing, such as top year cadet?
RODNEY ANGELL-BAKER 1) they’re midshipman, never cadets, and 2) all are actually wearing white belts, but the upper class officers are wearing a black sword belt as well that carries the sheath. The plebes wear a simplified white jumper uniform identical to what sailors in the fleet wore more than a century ago - an “undress” or working uniform. In modern times fleet sailors still wear a dressier version on occasion (sometimes called “cracker jacks”) but their working uniforms have gone through several generations of change, making the plain white version with no trim unique to the Naval Academy. After Plebe Summer the only time this uniform was worn would be on the way to/from gym class (for all four classes, not just the plebes); that version substituted a “dixie cup” hat and sneakers. The upper class who are leading and training the plebes are wearing a standard Navy uniform. At the Naval Academy, only this uniform worn by the plebes and the dress uniform worn for parades are unique; everything else is a standard Navy uniform

They look so serious. I know the military is a serious business but look at some of the formality of the British. At least they look like they’re not being punished.

Since some of the cadets and midshipmen admitted to the service academies are experienced enlisted combat veterans. I wonder how they are treated by kids out of high school whose only military experience is the academy, be it West Point, Annapolis, USAFA, or Coast Guard Academy.
Sized up from smallest to tallest for your viewing pleasure. The usual way is to size up a unit from the tallest to the shortest - but that would result in all the four foot females being hidden in the back of the formation and we can't have that. They reversed the usual practice so that the women would be in the front and on the right where they would be prominent on parade. Actually, this wasn't done for your viewing pleasure; it was done for the viewing pleasure of the feminist politicians who control military budgets and the fate of institutions like Annapolis.
Most of these people will probably end up on ships or even behind a government desk. You don’t need to be a seven foot male to press a button and fire a missile. Women make great seafarers. Height and physical strength isn’t everything. Intelligence, cunning, leadership abilities, courage, attention to detail and an ability to think strategically is by no means limited to men. Besides there are plenty of women in the US military who are both taller and physically stronger than a lot of guys.
Patricio it’s the academy moron they aren’t in full service just midshipmen they are non deployable and won’t make it into the fleet for in some cases 6 years for the cadets in this class who become pilots
@@mcbinks5006 Nope. They are Midshipmen in the US Navy. They certainly can be deployed and will be at sea at the end of Plebe year during the summer. When I enlisted in the Navy I was Seventeen years old. When I entered USNA I was nearly nineteen. *s/ Retired 24 Year Retired US Navy Submariner - USNA 1965 - Former Enlisted Man*
