Al Jazeera’s senior political analyst Marwan Bishara says that, once again, the US’s veto demonstrated a policy of “it’s my way or the highway”. “Palestine could only be a country the way the United States sees it, or Israel sees it, only at the time that it’s suitable to the United States and within the geopolitics and the global interest of the United States,” Bishara said. The US is therefore sacrificing the “freedom of Palestinian people for egotistical and narrow interests of the United States and Israel”, he said.

Second, Israel is the occupying power here, of course they refuse to give Palestinians their land and freedom back unless pressured by the international law! Third, I’m talking about the US government’s stated policy, not the Israelis’ and Palestinians’. And last, if both these people have the right to self-determination, how come only Israel should be a full UN state but not Palestine?

Per your logic, UN membership should also be cancelled when a member state has a corrupt government! Statehood is about the people of a nation and not their government! "My way or the highway" DESCRIBES the attitude of those who control their representatives in the UN but it does not EXPLAIN anything. The "Why?" question seems to terrorize them; they fear that someone will figure out how desperate they are. I take an issue when on the one hand palestinians say "we are oppressed, we are not allowed to live, we live in prison like conditions, we have nothing,: and on the other they say "we are one of the most educated in the world, we made a society despite occupation" and yet they never show evidence of this society. it only exists in vague statements. and anytime anyone from israel tries to claim the palestinians have this highly educated complex society they are shot down as just trying to oppress. one side is lying, and only one side changes their story to fit their needs.
