US, South Korea Rattled by Putin-Kim “Bonhomie” | From The Frontline | Subscribe to Firstpost
Tensions have been at an all-time high between North Korea and South Korea. This comes as Pyongyang continues to release balloons filled with poop into South Korea. Kim Jong Un also repeatedly holds live-fire drills involving artillery systems, ballistic missiles and tanks. Meanwhile, Russian President Vladimir Putin visited North Korea after 24 years. Putin and Kim signed a mutual defence agreement pact in a message to South Korea and the United States. In response to Putin’s visit, Washington, Seoul and Tokyo launched a tri-lateral exercise called Freedom Edge. The United States Navy deployed the USS Theodore Roosevelt to South Korean waters as the US Air Force B-1, F-15 and F-16s teamed up with South Korean F-15 and F-35 jets for live-fire drills and air patrols. South Korean President Yoon Suk Yeol threatened North Korea with massive retaliation if Kim Jong Un tried any military unilateralism.
