US Special Forces Combat Controller Helmet Cam Firefight With Taliban Firing From Several Directions

Footage from the helmet cam of US Special Forces Combat Controller Mark A Forester in Afghanistan captured an entire firefight between a US Special Forces OAD team, ANA soldiers and Taliban fighrers firing from several directions at the US forces during Forester's first Special Forces OAD.
During the combat action the US Special Forces are seen firing back at Taliban positions after taking direct fire from several locations before changing position and calling in air support from F-18 fighter aircraft dropping GBU 38 500lbs bombs on the Taliban effectively ending the firefight.
Interesting to see is also the fact how Mark motivates his ANA counterparts to act accordingly to the situation despite the language barrier.
The Special Operators engaged the Taliban with mounted weapons from their vehicles, machine guns and a Carl Gustav recoiless rifle.
Forester enlisted shortly after the events of 9/11 but was sadly KIA under heavy fire in 2010 trying to save a wounded Special Forces teammate.
The helmet cam footage was provided by Marks brother Thad Forester and the video was produced by Dan Schilling together with Zachary Spilinek.

@@ThadForester I saw this footage months or years ago and my feelings were like " damn, this dude is so focused and enthusiastic and the afghans, who normally should fight for there own freedom, cower in the dirt and hope to get out of this in one piece...". Now, with the current situation in afghanistan, its clear why the ANA felt apart and surrendered: They dont had "Mark Foresters" or better not enough "Mark Foresters" in their troops. Why? Our guys did nothing wrong. For 20 years they shellacked the bad guys. I bet the taliban casualties were absolutely awful - that's why they agreed to the ceasefire in february 2020. They'd had enough and knew there was no possible way to beat US forces. Even when there were only 5k troopers there, they felt they couldn't beat them. It wasn't our guys who lost. It was the Afghans, who decided they preferred to be under the brutal, sadistic thumb of the Taliban, and it was Biden's handlers, who think of themselves as brilliant but are actually a danger to themselves with utensils at the dinner table.

Wow. My best friend Brad Smith wore that same hat and fell in Jan 2010 in Afghanistan rescuing wounded. He was Airforce TACP and did essentially the same job. This is eerie. God bless both of these great men.

Honestly, I would think being ambidextrous would be more prevalent...since they fire personal weapons, operate several radios, laser-guidance and optics at once.

Combat Controllers go through training that's probably as difficult and demanding as other Special Operations individuals. Remember, they are MASTERS of their battle space and are akin to Birds-of-prey in relation to situational awareness. Take note of how he performs about 10 different tasks, (as they become necessary,) during this engagement: operates radio, fires his MG, shouts orders at ANA, returns to engaging with MG, etc...

Is not "probably as difficult " it is 100% as difficult. Theyre built to be able to jump on any team that need a subject matter expert in all things air. They're combat dive, haho, halo, jtac and go though roughly 2-3 years of special operations pipeline.

Why is he a legend? None of our liberties were at risk in Iraq or Afgh. Yet we went to a foreign land and murdered a couple hundred thousand men, women and children who were not a threat to us. I'm not knocking the fellow, I'd have probably wanted to fire "their way" too and the American was doing just that, same as the Afghan soldiers. Both can't see or identify the enemy but both firing nonetheless yet you pick out the Afghans in this clip when they both use their small arms the same way at the same time.

Question for those that have been in these types of situations. It appears there was uncertainty about exactly where the enemy is shooting from. In these case where you can't identify and aim at individual targets are you simply shooting into a general area to try and suppress enemy fire?

Yeah that’s the general idea. You want to make sure you have the general area correct or you give your position away and highlight how you don’t know your target. But getting shots down range will hopefully keep their heads down enough for your to switch up positions, clearly identify enemy target location and take action from there.

When it comes to engagements where you don't know where your enemy is. You determine a general direction and send it. Sometimes you can see flashes (muzzle flashes) or you can determine based on where the snaps or ricochets come from. It can be quite difficult, because the enemy doesn't typically stay and fight, they like to do hit and run tactics. Shoot and move, shoot and move, etc.

Do you have no clue that Donald Trump had deals made with the Taliban that we were going to pull out before Biden did. The Trump administration let thousands of fighters free from jail who are now part of the troops who took over Afghanistan. Please gather facts.

Negotiations was condition-based, and a methodical exit plan that would preserve the national interest. 2. The Afghan government and the Taliban were both told they would face the full force of the US military if they caused any harm to Americans or American interests in Afghanistan. 3. Both parties would negotiate to create an interim-joint government, and both sides had to repudiate al Qaeda. 4. A small special-operations force would be stationed in the country to take direct action against any terrorist threats that arose. 5. When all those conditions were met, withdraw would happen! The result was a successful drawdown of US forces in Afghanistan to 2,500, the lowest count since the dawn of the War on Terror. Biden admin. came in and said we won't abid to any negotiations, so the Taliban said we won't either.... In fact, Biden didn’t condition the withdrawal on continued adherence to the agreed-upon stipulations. It would be an unconditional pullout!!!! Trump handed Biden the opportunity to be a hero by ending an extremely unpopular war and taking full credit for it. Something he couldn't do while being Vice President for eight years. Between April to the in the mid of the night pullout, Taliban made over 20K attacks on Afghqanistan forces and Gov. Why? BC Biden broke the from the negotiations, Biden was weak.....Then left the country in Chaos! Left Americans, Left allies, Left 80 Billion in weapons! In fact he left so quick, that the Afghan Gov. didn't even have time to secure USA abandon bases, which where looted! So gather facts yourself bc youre not as educated as you think you are!!!!!!

@@OGshogun444 Thats why some of the commando's just surrendered, they had the will to fight to the end but it didn't really matter, the war was already lost since the regular army didn't care to or was too afraid to assist them and in the end, their leaders made them surrender, some obeyed the orders, some kept fighting and are still fighting today. Either way, sad for all of them... Since they really wanted to save their nation.
