US Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen arrives in China's southern factory hub of Guangzhou on Thursday with a tough message to Chinese officials: you're producing too much of everything, especially clean energy goods, and the world can't absorb it. China is unleashing a flood of electric vehicles, batteries, solar panels, semiconductors and other manufactured goods onto global markets, the result of years of massive government subsidies and weak demand at home. FRANCE 24's Yena Lee reports from Beijing, China.

There are not enough talents in US to revive the manufacturing industry. How easy it is to print money, how tired it is to open a factory, and the best people in America have gone to finance. China can only bury its head in developing manufacturing.

Once again the audacity of the US. The US doesn't subsidies US businesses, come on. Every country does it to some extent. Also the middle class in America is shrinking, people have to work multiple jobs, one of the worse health care programs in the world. Infrastructure is under funded and they believe they have the right to tell, not just China but any country in the world how to run their affairs. The days of the US telling the world what to do are well and truly over.

In fact, up to now, China's automobiles have hardly been sold in the United States, but this would not prevent China from becoming the largest automobile exporter in 2023. There are still many countries in the world willing to buy China cars, while China Car Factory is trying to satisfy consumers.

The U.S. Federal government gives up to $7500 tax credits (most EV buyers can get it) to EV buyers, and each state government subsidizes $3500 to $5500 (take California for example). So overall the subsidy amounts to about 20%, fairly speaking, if you buy a Tesla M3 or MY. This is way higher than the subsidy given by Chinese government as far as know. So the real problem is the U.S. EV makers earn too much in profit. Yellen, please, correct it.

Funny. In a free market, the output will be high when the demand is high. China is producing high volume of EV cars to meet local/global demand, is it a new defintion of overcapacity only when the west company is failing the competition in EV cars?

Globally only 1 in 7 new cars sold are electric. As a percentage of the total number of cars on the road worldwide, EVs represent a minuscule percentage and have a lot of room to grow. There is no evidence that the world cannot absorb the volume of EVs that China is churning out thereby causing “overcapacity”.

It's all about the debt. Yellen is begging for China's mercy as the American oligarchs concluded that they failed to create another global financial crisis by interest rate manipulation, are on course to be forced to lower the interest rate and will therefore expect to witness an inevitable hyper inflation in the US. This trip is just one of the begging trips. Similar trips had happened for quite a few times in the past and will still happen in the future.
