One of the best things about going to Japanese markets is finding out what new import flavors of Pocky they have. I always pick up a box when there's a flavor I haven't seen before.

I'm kind of surprised George didn't introduce the region-limited big pockys. Also I once got a Valentine's day limited pocky in Japan where there's a QR code on the box and a handsome pocky man will talk sweet things to you. Classic Japan Marketing:D

I feel like I can get most of the Japan exclusive Pocky locally, like the melty winter cocoa is one of my favorites, but also Seattle has a giant Uwajimaya that tries to carry every Pocky possible so we're kind of lucky there!

Pocky is so good I'm glad it gets a Food wars episode. But I'm sad Joe disrespected the Matcha ones. Totally agree on the cocoa ones but you gotta be careful around them even with body heat.

The Almond Crunch Pocky is a favorite of mine and if not available, I go for the Cookies and Cream or good old fashioned Strawberry. The cocoa one is just OK in my book. Pretz pizza is okay, but like Joe said, it's got a weird taste to it. That being said, everytime I go to my local Tokyo Central or Daiso, I'm on the hunt for new flavors I haven't seen before. The banana is a pass. Not so good.

In Korea, the same candy is called peppero, and on November 11 they have "Peppero Day" for the same reason.

I know the feeling I love them then I found out I have non celiac gluten sensitivity and leaky gut. That means no wheat and no chocolate. If they make a GF white chocolate i would be ok cus I can have cocoa butter just no cocoa mass. Here is hoping cheers🥂

Oh man, Pocky. My first job out of college was at the ad agency that handled (US) Pocky’s social media! I didn’t work on the account, but my hand made an appearance in one of their Instagram photos 😂 We always had US Pocky, Pretz, and Pejoy in our snack closet. They sent us a big box of the Japanese ones once. I looooved those tiny Japanese Pocky sticks… Y’all should talk about Calbee at some point. They have some interesting product differences between Japan and the US too!

It’s funny that you mock the corn pretz but I actually love them! I have stomach problems and can’t eat corn usually but I can eat the corn flavored pretz because they’re not really corn, so they don’t upset my stomach. They’re so yummy! They remind me a lot of like corn pops or another sweet corn cereal from when I was a kid they have a similar flavor profile.

Japanese pocky hands down are the best quality pocky. The US ones are similar to the rest of the world where it’s made in Thailand with inferior ingredients and taste horrible, not even real chocolate at all.

@@nahor88 I used to eat the inferior quality pocky until I was in Japan where I bought all the different pocky I can find from donkihote and eat them along the trip, taste so different and good, and a box cost just a dollar there too. Now it’s only Japanese made one or rather not.

I have tried a lot of the pocky flavors in the US, but there was a mint chocolate that was really good, if you are into mint chocolate. I only bought one box to try and I regret not buying more. Now I can't find it anywhere.

I live in the UK and I don't think I've seen this available. Unless I've just not been paying attention EDIT: Ah a similar product called Mikado is sold in the UK and indeed elsewhere in Europe, and is apparently a rebrand by the company that makes and sells them here. They're good tbf

i've never been able to find pocky where i live, must be only sold in specialty shops. i did however find my supermarket selling something that looks exactly like it, and tbh i didn't like it. the pretzel stick was fine, but the chocolate coating was awful

in Canada, we have sticks that look like croutons that people take on the go with them but they look more like Pocky than croutons more than half of the time the other batch no one wants to eat but they will anyways cuz they're cheaper.
