i'm not an american but i feel so proud of the girl especially for missy franklin franklin is the youngest but the tallest and soni is the eldest but the shortest between them fighting USA team for the next race
Paula Severeyn Ranomi has the best individual 100m free time but Netherlands touched the wall in 6th and that's what matters. Ranomi made up one spot on her leg.
Those 2012 US medley relay teams were ridiculous. This women's team had two gold medalists in the individual 100m events and a silver medalist (plus Allison Schmidt, who didn't swim the individual 100m but won the 200m by like three seconds). Somehow the men's team was even better with three individual 100m gold medalists and an individual bronze. The USA is always fairly strong, but I think it'll be decades before we see a team as good as that one.
@@carsonkien8141 The only world record holder for 100m races in this relay was Dana Volmer. Though yes, Missy and Sony are world record holders in the 200m of their best stroke, but this isn't a 200m, this is 4×100m race
For some reason, USA not so much in the last two Paralympics we've watched - Australia had done great back in 2012 in particular and Ukraine and China seem to have roared into this event and dominated a lot - and GB have done very well, too.
So much talk of domination in swimming. Yea the US wins dozens of swimming medals, but its not like we set a new world record at each Olympics......oh wait
USA had an impressive All-Star Team with Franklin, Soni, Vollmer, and Schmitt. Anyone can win in the pool, but this time the USA women really kicked some serious a33!
it's normal. most of breaststrokers are shorter than freestylers or backstrokers. Kosuke Kitajima- 4 olympic gold medals in 100-200m men's breaststroke is 1m78, Cameron Van Der burgh or Branden Hansen, other famous breaststrokers, are 1m84 while Phelps 1m93,Adrian 1m98,Magnussen 1m95,Agnel 2m02, Grevers 2m03 who are freestylers or backstrokers:D
The male commentator said that no woman before Missy Franklin had won four golds in one Olympic except for Kristin Otto... what about Amy Van Dyken in 1992?!? And then Amy won two more in 1996!
There have been 97 Olympic swimming relays. Team USA has 69 golds and 92 total medals. Australia has a very impressive 12 golds and 44 total medals. I'm including 1912 when AUS +NZ competed as a unified team.
With this comment you already have disqualified yourself.. I am sure if it wasn't the USA winning the gold, you would not say anything..Face it ,the USA is the greatest swimming nation on Earth and this since Ester Williams.
Don't know they always do that as the men do also. At these games the men did Back- Nick Thoman Breast - Eric Shantaeu Fly - Tyler McGill Free - Cullen Jones. While in the final they went Back - Matt Grevers Breast - Brendan Hansen Fly - Michael Phelps Free - Nathan Adrian
I'm pretty new into swimming but it's still nice to see Denmark competing in the finals. It's a bit sad to see how far we got behind though, but it comes as no surprise to me that countries like USA, Australia and Japan took the lead! That was some astounding and absolutely beautiful swimming!! I thought GB would've done better though..
At 66 y/o, & having vivid memories of both Summer / Winter Olympics over the years, as much as I loved watching our Ladies compete & win,. it is even more gratifying knowing that these swimmers, as with the lady sprinters, ARE CLEAN ! No steroids, GH, or other short cuts taken. When you look at , listen to, & see them compete, we are watching women--REAL women, & that to me, is just so gratifying. Well done American women, you did us proud!! Wolfsky9, 66 y/o now.
The race was done when the buzzer went off. We drew lane 6 this time. Schmitty might've gotten a warning that the wall was coming from her crew chief, James Stevens.

Just shows how talented she is. Most swimmers are very tall. Ms. Soni is not that tall for a swimmer. She just works so hard!! I love her! You can see Soni(team captain) giving pep talks on the blocks before the race starts.
Dana Vollmer is the Allyson Felix of women's swimming----------THE Guarantee ! -----------She always dominates in the Fly----------------------WolfSky9, 74 y/o
