1993-1999 FF-1092 THOMAS C. HART (turkish navy F 253 TCG ZAFER). Hala en iyi fırkateyndi. Türk donanmasında modifiye edilmişti. Fakat şu an akdeniz'in dibinde yatıyor. Eğitim maksatlı hedef gemi olarak torpido ile batırıldı😢. Hatırlarmısın bilemiyorum, sloganı "You gotta have heart".
I served as a Sonar Technician on two Knox Class Frigates from 1977 to 1981... USS Brewton, FF-1086, Pearl Harbor and USS Hewes, FF-1078, Charleston. The Hewes was one of the first surface vessels to be fitted with a Towed Array Sonar System (TASS). Both ships survive today after being sold and recommissioned into the Taiwanese (R.O.C.) Navy. Most of these frigates did not survive, and were sunk during US Navy exercises called "SINKEX". I travelled to the West Pacific, the Indian Ocean, West Africa, Gulf of Oman, across the Atlantic through the Med and into Soviet waters in the Black Sea (including two deployments, totaling 23 countries in four years of active service). I started my service as a teenager and quickly became a Shellback and an 'Old Salt" by age 23... My only regret is that I did not make a career in the Navy, although I did make lifelong friends. "Shout Out" to my old shipmates and I salute all Knox Class sailors! These ships with the 26CX bow mounted sonar dome and single screws could quickly become a "puke fest" during rough seas! We rode the elevator up and down in Forward Berthing (Weapons Division).
USS Valdez 1096 EM 76-80. Spent almost a year and half of that time going through overhaul at Bethlehem Steel Shipyard in Boston. Awesome times too, enough to where I enlisted for 6 more years afterwards and served on the USS Barry DD 933 and then the Kittery Naval Submarine Shipyard. No, I did not end up working at a shipyard, you would have thought though. Right? LOL
Hey I recall, I don't do Facebook or other social media. I do keep in touch with a few guys. Good to hear from you. You showed me some music that I still like today.
1st Division, BM... but I didn't stay in long enough to go over E3. Swept and painted that ship over and over, plus a lot of lookout watches when underway. @@testbooster
I was about to subscribe bro but you left out the best ship of all!! U.S.S. Marvin Shields FF-1066. Served on board 1977-81 Was sold to the Mexican Navy,
I am sorry that FF-1066 from your memory has not been included in the edited video ~ Because there is not much time to collect information ~ Some people have warned that the photos will be infringed ~ So the suspension of the warship editing and the increase of photos ~ But please you navy FF- 1066 brings you good memories ~
Plank owner USS Jesse L. Brown (De 1089)…1973-1975…worst riding ship I was ever on. Single shaft. Idiotic hull design. Top heavy. In short…the USS Mistake.
