World Archery does the absolute best job of presenting competition archery. The athlete and target closeups make these broadcasts incredibly enjoyable to watch.
Can we talk about how the mascot is just a person? Why even make a costume? I think if you are going to have a mascot, with a costume, the mascot shouldn't be just some blonde white guy in a hat. Am I nuts?
5:39 all the archers up there weren't even surprised. More like "yeah we've all done it before" but I would have been chasing that arrow down to make sure I didn't just kill somebody lol
the reason is his tru ball abyss flex release has the lowest head position, plus, it has an open hook. I had the same thing happened to me before. It will also go off when you let the bow down. There are four head positions of tru ball abyss flex. The lowest one is not safe and the highest one puts too much pressure on your index finger. So the best position is the second lowest one, which is the factory setting.,
I think the conditions are not safe, they shouldn't have audience down range. Some day someone will have a more serious equipment failure or flinch and there will be a bad accident.
I don't understand why the compound shoots at 50 m, and the recurve normally at 70? I thought compound bows were more powerful and more accurate. Anyone please comment I don't understand the announcers comments.
Used to both be at 70m - compound changed about 10 years ago. All part of the changes to keep recurve archery in the Olympics and try to add compound by making their event "different" to the recurvce.
50m on a smaller target, makes things easier for organizers at smaller events and venues. Also speeds things up a bit during qualifying were archers have to walk the range to retrieve arrows. Also, in theory, because the compound archers are shooting with greater velocity wind isn't as much of a defining feature to overcome, so reducing the distance doesn't have much of an effect on their event itself in comparison to recurve.
Anyone Rookies Like Myself Fall For The Illusion Of Paige's First Shot, Had To Rewatch Over And Over To See Why They Scored Her A 9. It Looks Like The Flight Is The Arrow And The Shaft Is A Shadow.......Just Me?
A que distancia tiraron? Alguien sabe? Lo que le pasó a Mike fue I similar a lo que le pasó a Sara López hace un tiempo en competencia de exhibición justamente contra Mike. Recuerdan? Un poco distinto pero similar. Una flecha que se pierde.
@@juve4life149 so, no one sky drew, but Mike Schlosser's release was engaged early. If he had been sky drawing, it could mean a broken window...or worse.
Can we talk about how the mascot, Archy, is just a person? Why even make a costume? I think if you are going to have a mascot, with a costume, the mascot shouldn't be just some blonde white guy in a hat. Am I nuts? Like pick ANY animal, and make a costume of that. Archy the Aardvark, Boom; already way better than just some dude.
With almost no practice or set-up for 70m, it is no wonder compound did not do as well. If they would have done 50m, recurve would have shot worse compared to compound.
@@jimoconnor8597 the only setup they need is to move the sight .... the rest is constant and independent of the distance being shot .... which is done in about 3 arrows unless conditions change dramatically (f.e. windy day).
@@lubossoltes321 Well I will respectfully differ. My son won the gold medal at the Youth World Archery Championships and there is much more than moving the sight. You tune your arrows for 50m in compound, not 70m. And it is not just equipment, 70m is a much different distance than 50m.
