| Nanjing, China, July 7, 2019 - USA rallied from two sets down to win 3-2 over Brazil and complete their title defence campaign in the FIVB Volleyball Nations League.
USA coach Karch Kiraly: “I am most proud of how hard my players played since the very first match in Ruse, Bulgaria, down to the match tonight when we were down 2-0. It would be easy to give up hope but they did not. We didn’t play with the same players for each week and we had a whole group of 22-23 players and they all made great contributions. So we are grateful and happy about all these contributions.”
USA captain Jordan Larson: “We are definitely excited. We played an exciting match and we had a great finish. It’s been a long tournament and it wasn’t easy for us. Brazil is a great team and they deserve all the respect. We came out strong in sets one and two but we just couldn’t keep it together, then we came out better in the third and fourth, and it was very nice to win the match.”
USA player Annie Drews: “I am very proud of us. We made a lot of nice changes throughout the match and we’re able to pull out a win. Winning MVP, I’m so thankful to be part of this team and this tournament. I am so excited in continuing to learn and I want to do a lot of good things for this team.”
