The U.S. has acknowledged India's enduring ties with Russia. Eric Garcetti, U.S. envoy to India, emphasised India’s goodwill towards Russia. NATO was warned in 2008 to stop approaching Russian borders. They ignored that and invited Ukraine into NATO. The ongoing war is the Russian self defense war. No word on any aggression, I am sick of Western politicians blaming Russia for the war.

But, American presidents didn’t care less … they pushed and pushed . Now USA will fight their proxi war until the last Ukrainian … That’s what’s happening now !

Russia stood by India in 1971 while West stood by Pakistan in liberation of Bangladesh war. US sent its 7th fleet to aid Pakistan and UK sent its navy. Both were intercepted by Soviet Nuclear submarines and forced to withdraw. India has a debt of gratitude to Russia which we shall always bear.

India-Russia relations go back decades and has tested the times. India also is acutely aware of USA’s intentions - lessons learned from the past at the time of need. So, naturally there is distrust. Indian people love Americans, but do to trust the American government and the deep state. It is going to take a very long time to earn trust. USA knows this and so is Russia. India will not forget Russia’s help at the time of need. Glad to know this is slowly coming in the open.

Amongst many other things, we Indians remember 1971 - how Soviet Union shielded us from the US and UK naval fleets when we were at war on both our eastern and western borders with "Terroristan" (they have patented the process of creating terrorists) !! The process liberated the oppressed Bengalis and resulted in creation of Bangladesh !

There are a lot of comments regarding India's gratitude fir 1971. While it on s true to an extent, the main reason for the friendship is people to people vibes that dies not exist with USA. USSR had fought the Germans almost single handedly, a fact that was hidden from us in our schools and all hollywood films obviously depicted how west fought the WW2 single handedly. Then USSR gave all help unconditionaly for industrial development. So many steel plants, power plants, and allued units. All in rupee trade.
