I don't personally like/agree with qualifications score not brought into Finals, but there are legitimate reasons for not doing so. If you're actually a shooter, you would know that Qualifications is about endurance and consistency Finals is about quick-thinking, adaptability and performance under high pressure. If organizers include qualifications score, then it would place a very high weightage (about 6/7) on endurance and consistency, and close to nil weightage on adaptability and performance under high pressure. Is that "a good representation of shooting skill". In your books, maybe. But that's not the consensus of the shooting world.

I get what you're saying. But I don't think it's fair to say that 1st to 8th placing has 0 weightage on endurance and consistency. Otherwise how would they even qualify for top 8 in the first place. The current system just place a large emphasis on adaptability in order to differentiate the top few. Is that a "good representation"? If you're asking my opinion, I don't think so too. But all I'm arguing is that it is still a "representation" with its merits. I think one of the reason they want clean slates for finals is because they want to increase the pressure between athletes and make finals more interesting. For one, it's just boring to watch someone start with a huge lead, and the rest have close to no hope of catching up. Not to mention that the one with a huge lead has much lesser pressure, so naturally will perform better. Making a clean finals a clean slate, makes for interesting things like dark horses. Personally, I do agree that the current system may be a little unfair to those who have performed extraordinarily well in the qualifications. But my main point, once again, is that the current system has its merits, and just place emphasis on different things. As for the part about removing Trap and FP. What I was trying to say, I think, is that if it was the case the a large amount of people disagree/find the current system as heavily flawed, then there would definitely be strong sentiments and petitions by various countries to change the format.

Fact, China dominates the overall medal count in Olympic shooting. Given all the resources we have it should not be that way, but it is. The only discipline that gets any attention is skeet. We have thousands of ranges, how many with Olympic air rifle or 22lr rifle targets/competitions? We have millions of gun owners, how many actually practice their marksmanship? Shooting sports in the US have been mired in politics, marketing and tacticool fantasy roleplay while our Olympic programs are left to fend for themselves in the shadows.

22mm? I think you're thinking of a 0.22 LR, meaning that the bullet is 0.22 inches in diameter, a common, very light and small round. Guns of the caliber are prevalent and cheap... 22mm would basically be a light/medium anti tank weapon. Also an air rifle makes for a great varmint gun.

Of those who are tested and detected to be using (not that many due to effective concealing tactics), only those who the Olympic committee dislikes as nation or for political reasons are popped. Bribery is rampant.

You can use beta blockers to decrease heart rate for more accuracy. It has been done before and is extremely dangerous and call kill the athlete. You underestimate the human ingenuity for dishonesty.
