That lighted up Eiffel Tower at night is the most beautiful sight I've ever seen. I was there in 2007. Loved seeing that shot. My unfulfilled dream is to live in Paris. So, am enjoying these videos. Too late for me at age 80.

Looking back, this may pale in comparison to the administrative processes required for settling in France. You have already looked into things such as banks, phones and so on. I moved to France 30 years ago from the UK and already spoke French. From the experience over that time, being fluent in French really helped. I think there are some excellent online courses these days. A priority, really, from a practical point of view and socially.

Congratulations! I can't wait to see you more in France. I know that I could do it, even being 70 and single, but, I still treasure cooking in my kitchen, and doing a few things in the yard. But the upkeep on a house is ridiculous! Bravo to you!

My eyes started to leak three times watching this fabulous video! Tony in the storage facility, the 6 bags against the wall....remembering Covid lockdown when we weren't sure when we would see ANY faces again, let alone family and friends. We forget how hard that was over time. So yes, back to Zoom only (for now, with some) but without the fear this time...with happy faces, even if only strangers, right outside. Life goes on, and this is such a celebration of your survival from a PANDEMIC and life threatening addictions. You've made it, in so, so many ways. I want to smooch you both, on each cheek. Well done!! You are inspiring me so much. To be brave, to carry on, to be forward thinking, to have a cogent plan, to practice every day the things that will help me realize my dream. And to practice my French even if only for brain health... (even though I'd love to buy you both a tasse de café in the Latin Quarter! Maybe one day😊) I want to add, Tony, you must be tired! I heard your New York accent for the first time! ☺️ You both look like you've lost weight and I love the "we did it!"sparkle in your eyes even though tired. Lastly, just think how great your....erm, "sit bones" are gunna look after weeks of 4 flights of stairs daily and all the walking!! You'll need to buy new clothes!...how AWEFUL! Hi Jennifer - Sorry for the delayed response. I am still adjusting to the time change. As I've said before, I love reading your posts. Although, Tony adamently denies any hint of a New York accent, mostly because he doesn't care for New Yorkers, or so he says, (he married one!! I'm the New Yorker🤣 ). He is from Connecticut. Still the Northeast, anyhow🤷🏻‍♀️Relative to seeing friends and family, I taught my parents how to use the video feature on Whatsapp and now they are seeing us more than they saw us when we were in Florida....lol I hope you're enjoying your Sunday 🤗

@@kjandtonylovefrance So glad to read that the jetlag is subsiding. I only remember one teensy example of what I'll now call Tony's, 🤔"New England" accent. The combination of, "used to" into "usetah". There is another example that I heard a couple of times buy don't recall right now. I promise not to hear it again though☺️. Wonderful footage of your now empty apartment, Tony mangled with the boxes in the storage 😂the rental car, your last night in Florida at the hotel, your flight and voilà you’re in Paris. Hi Gery - Sorry for the late reply. I'm still trying to catch up from Jetlag, and I think I am finally adjusteed to the time change. Yes, I see Tony getting more comfortable too. And, I am okay with the small space for now, only because I know it is temporary. I definitely need more space. But in the meantime, we are enjoying Paris and the adventure of discovery we are experiencing on a daily basis. I hope you are having a great Sunday so far!

We are lucky. We already have a house. (A VERY SMALL HOUSE). but we travel with carry on only. Our last trip OCT. 1st 2022 we went the entire trip sans power. LOL! Vive la France!

It took me a lot longer than most other videosl, but it was well worth it. I am really happy with how it turned out, for what was truly my first attempt at adding more b-roll footage into the video. And... I am so glad to know you are enjoying the videos and that you look forward to them. How is the weather in Oregon? I have a son in Idaho and it's begun to snow there.

@@kjandtonylovefrance My apartment is on Rue Monsieur le Prince and I am told it was built in the 17th century. Thank goodness the plumbing isn't that old! I spend a lot of time reading and studying my French at the Medici fountain in Luxembourg Park. So wonderful. petit-déjeuner at La Rostand on the corner most mornings. No snow here on the coast but temps are dropping below freezing at night, and low 40's during the day. Counting the days for my Air France flight back to Paris. -Daniel

Wow! What an accomplishment! Where did y'all sleep after they took the furniture?! Something else to watch: salle climatisee does not mean that all rooms are air-conditioned! Salle is singular. One room (usually the lobby) is "climatized" or air-conditioned. I already told y'all that ac in France does not use as much energy (is not as powerful) as those in the U.S. despite the fact that it now gets quite hot. I went to Lyon in May one year in the late 1990's early 2000's and it was hot then. It is probably even warmer there with the increase in global climate change.

Thanks for the tip, Bette. As for the bed, we had our bed up until the last day, when a friend came to pick it up. That's why we had to stay in a hotel the night before we left for France.

At that time Paris was completely rebuilt by the Baron Haussmann to adapt it to the ever growing urbanization and solve all the issues caused by it linked with congestion/transport, waste management, water management, dirtiness and epidemics, safety...

You almost get a heart attack for to get to the 4th flour. Some times later you get so use to with walk - stairs and to be fit that you manage to take the stairs of 280 for to get up to the top of the Arc of Triumph

Right now, it's hard to say because we re paying VRBO / AirBnB prices. We paid $2641 for the month for this apartment, but if you were signing a lease you would pay a lot less. We've been looking around for what it would cost if we choose Paris as our fulltime choice to live and we could get a fairly decent sized 2-3 bedroom (which is what we would want) for 2-3K. It also depends on the location. The more desireable the location, obviously the more pricey. We'll be able to give more information as we decide where we are going to end up. Thanks for watching!

Just starting to watch your vlog. Why did you not know the size of your place and why did you not know there wasn't an elevator? Was this not disclosed to you?

We knew the size of the apartment. Knowing it is going to be small and then experiencing it as such, are two different things. We got used to it pretty quickly. As for the elevator, we had been to France many times and we had been to Paris, in particular, several times. Each time, whether it be a hotel or an Airbnb or VRBO rental, there was an elevator. In this VRBO description, it did not indicate that it DID NOT have an elevator, so we were not prepared and did not know until we arrived. It wasn't until I looked more thoroughly through some of the comments that I saw someone noted that there wasn't an elevator.
