If Cleanliness is your concern, always realize that nothing is stopping you from creating public cleaning services in America. Most subway systems in India have qur based ticketing system. Its much more convenient than carrying around a physical card. You have to give NY metro some slack. The system was build over a hundred years ago. Easy to install the latest technology when you are building something from scratch

I’m American and I have to concede that Chinese metros are superior. So cheap too.

I love the metro stations and trains in Guangzhou/Canton. All shiny, glossy, clean, spacious, clean. And those beautiful Chinese women, all slim, no tattoos or nose rings, no piercing,, no pink or blue hair. And no rainbow flags !

I have lay over in Guangzo airport and they even have hot water dispenser that looks like a 2 door refrigerator and the water is free. I never saw that in the Canadian and U.S. airport.

It's only in the past 20 years China has been building all these subway stations and sky scrapers - so yes, everything is very modern. China was the fastest growing country in the world over the last 2 decades with double digit GDP growth. 4 decades ago, Chinese people didn't own a car, and everyone was peddling a bike. But now, there is an overbuild of condos and houses... they are currently in a recession.
