Can someone that was there give some contexts to what the plan was?? Lot of running around and shooting water. Has anyone ever heard of just anchor and flank??
man I have to say that that was a horrible example of firefighting. Gotta love the panting and making the obvious obvious....like why aren't they stopping the fire that is right next to the hose???? or for fucks sake how do they have time to upload videos to youtube???? I live in Colorado and save the poor bastards that lost their homes and all, why are fires all the rage now?? just a stupid thing that is now interesting, never before 2012 have anyone ever really cared....why start now??????
Lol the only reason they are busting their asses is because they have no clue what they are doing. Their tactics are mediocre at best. This type of firefighting is what gets people hurt. I will use this video as a great training tool of what not to do.
This is pitiful. With a country as technologicly advanced as the US is there is no reason to fight a fire from the ground. Case in point 19 firefighters lost there lives doing this outdated crap.
As the individual who spent two days documenting what these firefighters did, I am not a firefighter and know nothing about proper tactics or procedures. What I do know is that I watched these men, some of them active duty, fight tooth and nail to save over 20 homes and one school. Whether they were textbook examples of what to do or what not to do is pretty irrelevant to those who have a home to go back to because of their efforts. But what do I know, I'm just a photographer...

No way possible to fight a fire 100% from air devil. The ground crews are what makes the fire containment quicker. They don't drop at night. Crews work 24 hours night and day.
Definitely wasting a lot of energy and resources but im not a firefighter so the 50000 videos I've watched of USFS fire crews doing it the right way obviously makes me ignorant
