At 36 years old I am now realizing that being called strong all the time as a black woman isn't always a good thing. Having that strong label on you at times strips black women of their humanity and human vulnerability that all humans have. There is nothing wrong with being strong however when it comes to black women please allow us leeway to be other things too. Thank you

I think the study regarding a strong black woman was speaking to black women lacking a space to be vulnerable in their strength not weak. There's a soft and sweet space that vulnerability lends that other cultures THRIVE in whereas black women, we always HAVE to SURVIVE in strength, instead of thrive in love and vulnerability within our families and environment. Our crowns don't have to always be heavy or burdening... actually we can be the Goddesses that we are..Queens rule...Goddesses create...we have the power within us to be and do BOTH❤️

Being ‘Strong’ has caused some trauma for us. The need to feel like you have over perform above your fullest potential just to be considered equal. It’s also impacted the way we are perceived by our white counterparts especially when giving birth or needing medical attention. Because of this perception we don’t get care in a timely matter. We need to curate spaces for us to feel and just be…recognizing we you need help or support that is strength. We should normalize what strength look and feels like for black women so we don’t have to hurt or need in silence!
