USB-C cable falling out? Here's a quick fix!

In this video, I'll be showing you a way to make your USB-C cable have a tighter fit. I used a straight pin to clean out the port - and it worked! Turns out, this also fixed a problem with the phone not quick charging. It immediately charges rapidly now that the port is clean. Do this at your own risk... Be very careful about putting something in your phone's charge port. Concentrate on the outer portion of the port. It worked for me, but it may not work for you. A plastic toothpick is probably the best bet - something non-conductive. Again, do this at your own risk. Feel free to check out my latest video on this subject. I get a lot of lint out with a bent staple. Impressive! • PHONE NOT FAST CHARGIN...
Also... I am fully aware of "lip smacking" in the video. I have taken steps to not do that in my videos any more. It was a terrible habit... I hate it as much as anyone... The camera I used was right near my face - so the mic picked up every single sound. I hate that the video turned out this way, but there's absolutely nothing I can do about it now. If you're super bothered by it, I hope you end the video as soon as you can.

Hey, everyone. Be sure and check out the other video I did on this same subject. It's in the "more info" tab in the upper right corner as well as in the description box. I did it live with a bent staple, and I showed how much crap I dug out of the port. Thanks!

Man.......you just saved me a buncha money! When it started giving me problems, including falling out, and not charging when plugged in, I took a powerful LED flashlight and looked into the port. It looked clean and fine!! Nothing in there at all. Well, I went ahead and dug around anyway, just to make sure. OMG!! You should have seen the amount of crap to come out of there!! About like yours. I had to dig like 4 times to get it clean. I don't know why a person cannot see the debris deep in the port. Maybe the color it is camouflages it? I have always regularly blown into the port to try and keep it clean. That may have helped delay the build-up, but it sure did not stop it! The cord immediately started staying in after the cleaning, and it even kicked in the turbo-charging function when connected, a function I had not seen work in months! Thanks a BUNCH Matt!! You da' Man!!

This video was a life-saver. I had already tried a toothpick a couple of weeks prior to seeing this. Thought I hit bottom, that there was no dirt, and the problem was the charging port. You saved me a big headache saying a toothpick won't fit. My p20 pro now supercharges again and I don't have to hold it in some weird way for the cable to not pop out. Found this video googling "p20 pro charging cable popping out" and your video was the top result.

This guy is a legend in my book 🙌🏽 after never cleaning the port on my Pixel for 2 years, it was disgusting. Took the plastic shielding off a twist-tie from an old cable, dug in there, and what in the world. There was so much that came out, and it felt caked on towards the bottom (so gross). I am so glad I found this video

Pointed me in the right direction! Took the plastic casing off to get better access for cleaning. Used a staple held with a vice grip. I straightened the staple to make a probe. I also used a pushpin. After digging around the center connector I held the phone upside down and tapped it on the desk. I repeated this process a few times until I didn't get any vent out anymore. That pretty much did the trick and then I also blew it out with a compressed air can, but most of the debris came out using the pushpin to loosen it up and then tapping it on the desk so that the loose lint would fall out. The phone was driving me nuts with it not being able to stay connected. Now it works great! Thank you so much!

Thanks!!! Helped a lot. I used a filed down paperclip to make it thinner. Make sure you get past the outer ridge of the port, otherwise you think your inside but actually just scraping the top of the port between the phones housing. One side seems wider on mine, a bit odd but be aware. You don't want to force anything and risk bending the middle part of the usb port and damaging it

Thanks so much! I had figured out that pocket lint was the problem, but then I tried fixing it by blowing out the charging port with compressed air, and that didn't help, so I assumed I must have been wrong about the lint. But when I went in with a pin, there was quite a lot of it stuck so firmly to the interior of the port that there's no way the compressed air could have dislodged it. I'm very happy now!

Thought I had cleaned it out appropriately and was still having this problem. Watched your video and decided I'd try again. Turns out there was some more lint down in there. Works great now. THANK YOU! Amazing how such a little amount can cause such a huge headache. FYI canned air didn't help until I broke the lint free by scraping with a needle. Make sure not to scratch the board in the center. Going to use canned air every few weeks now to keep it clean

My old cables were falling off and I couldn't fit any new cable into the USB-C port on my phone. Never had that problem with any other connector. Well, kudos to you, sir, because you solved a problem entire corporations weren't able to solve. Huawei website says, 'this issue can occur if different type cable is used". Duh. The amount of dust that I got out was incredible, probably 4 times as much as you show here. I also had to scrape it off quite hard, 3 years of collecting dust and pressing it in with a connector have turned it into concrete. The USB-C connector seems to have a major design flaw and thanks to you, we now have a solution.

Thank you. This really helped. It's been bugging me for a couple weeks. I thought it might be dirty but I tried a paperclip previously that I thought was small enough. Obviously it want. The staple worked perfectly. Pretty sure my long was so bad it was draining the battery. Charging was taking forever and it would only last a few hours. Now it charges quickly again. Even with the charger that was plugged in and the battery was still losing power

Lint was extremely compacted in my port. I first used a bent paper clip and got some lint out and it help the charger stay in a little better. But with a light I could see into the port and there was still lint in there. So what I used was a small safety pin which is stronger and I had to chisel out the remaining lint. I used a safety pin, a can of air and a head lamp. Now my charger goes in like when it was new.

Hero! I have had this issue for a couple of months now with my S21 Ultra. Sometimes the phone wouldn't register the cable or it would tell me "Check your charger connection" and say "Slow charging". Other times it would just work as normal but I'd really have to jam the cable in and then be careful as it was always loose and would fall out easily even if I moved the phone slightly. It was really annoying. Found your video. Got a sewing needle from the drawer and couldn't believe the amount of pocket lint that came out. I had tried a toothpick already but that only picked up a very minimal amount of lint although that did work in the past with a non USB C phone. All good now and the charger cable is staying in. Thank you so much. Have a great day.

I usually don't miss solutions like this, but I totally missed this. My problem was gradual; i equated it with "Wear and Tear." I'd used compressed air a couple times, but no real improvement. Last night i decided "this is ridiculous" and found this video. I initially tried spraying with DeoxIT (electrical contact cleaner) and a plastic floss pick, then switched to an eyeglass screwdriver. Between all of that, the chunks of lint started to fall out. I got it CLEAN for the first time in months, apparently, because suddenly the USB-C cable inserted firmly and wouldn't flop out, and I had full charging and data connection. DOH! Thanks for making a video to point out the obvious. Sometimes the obvious solution is THE solution.
