I want to check embedded programming on ARM/STM32 starting with a Nucleo board. Whereever this journey will take me, should I develop on Windows or Mac with STM32CubeIDE? I’ve heared that the industry standard for developing on ARM is Windows most tools, drivers etc).

NUCLEO-F103RB (got a bigger flash size) is the same chip I am using here. Whole getting started series for STM32 ru-vid.com/group/PLtuqBdbsL-DvXMyzhGnODxjYmrH9v-PPY I'd recommend this series if you are just starting out ru-vid.com/group/PLtuqBdbsL-DvbB6QAGgoGBAEsGuXfGFoF Basically what I am doing on this channel is very close to what someone will do in the industry at the starting point of a project. Yes most of us work on windows. Using Docker + WSL2 is becoming more common (it is my preferred work environment).Windows and Linux are the preferred environment in general. You will also get more help for these platforms. You are going to have a hard time getting support for Apple products and you get better hardware using one of the other 2. I have only met one person that used a Apple device for development and I have nothing good to say. If you already have a Apple device don't by something new. It will work fine.

@@BinderTronics Thanks for your detailed answer, appreciate it! I use mac but also have a linux notebook. I think I will try both for my first projects and later maybe windows/wsl2. Of course I know your playlists 😀 They are excellent! I also just detected that the MSP430 is also a very good platform to begin with and the toolchain works on linux.

Just as a note. I have never seen TI MCUs on a job spec. It is mostly STM, Nordic and Renesas. I have also seen that MCU recommended as a starter and I have no idea why. Might be a American thing.

@@BinderTronics I found a cool tutorial for MSP430 here on YT (search Artful Bytes) that was the reason for considering the MSP430 but I will take a closer look on your Atmel playlist now, maybe this is a better starting point. I will take your STM32 playlist as a guide for later experiments for STM32 for sure!

Has nothing to do with you IDE. It is the compiler version you are using. You have 2 options A: update your code to work with the new libs. B: install a old version of the compiler. I am not touching PIC32 MCUs. Prefer staying sane.
