What if John Elway had chosen USC. He almost did. Elway, Lott, and Allen on the same team. Great receivers would've choose to plsy there. Might have been the best college team ever.

@@KeithA-vx4cc He still wouldn't have known what beating USC was like. LOL! The guy voted Pac8-10-12's best football player ever (by who?)...Ha! the guy never beat USC or won a Rose Bowl. Stanford barely had a winning record with him at QB. The biased voters didn't want a Trojan, and used his pro career to give it to him.

On Saturday I watched that 2008 USC vs Ohio State game again and that defense was just amazing they were big,fast and mean. Maybe unfairly but I am still mad at Sark, Kiffin and Pete for not having one of the greatest college football players ever on the field for a fourth down play to win a national championship. I was fine with L. White getting the ball but not even using Bush as a decoy still haunts me. Man the box that White ran against was unreal. I was at that game and it was hard to leave the Rose Bowl that night.

I was there too, but I couldn't get out of there fast enough I was so pissed off. I had a couple Tx fans outside the gate that offered to buy my used ticket on the way to my car. I tore it up in front of them, I was that pissed that I'd rather destroy the evidence than get $20 from a longhorn fan. Fight On!

Don't get me started on Lame for that 4th down play, or the goddamn seeing eye dog refs or Reggie's lateral. No way we should have lost that game. We should have been the only ones to ever Three Pete.

We might have the deepest defensive backfield in the country. Jaylin, Jacobe, DeCarlos, Humphrey, Celles, Kamari, Akili, Beavers, and Pierce can all start at 90% of power 3 schools. I think Crawford is going to be special as well. Prophet has improved a lot and who knows what Zion can do when he’s healthy. So hard to pick 5 starters, I’d say Akili and Kamari lock up the safety spots- John, Jacobe, and DeCarlos Roshambo for who starts on the outside. Jaylin at nickel??? I’d like to see Crawford get some reps there too being a longer option. Then the loser of the roshambo & Celles get a lot of reps as well on the outside.

I don't know if it's the bigest what if but I think What if John Robinson dosen’t take the Rams job after the 1982 season and coaches USC through the 1997 season. Should be in the conversation. What if The than Pac-10 was able to land Texas & Oklahoma for expansion? Colorado would likely still be in the Big 12 and Utah? Would they still be in the Mountain West Conference? Would it have helped the Pac-12 in the BCS rankings? I think it'a clear that the SEC benefited from being top-heavy rather than competitive top to bottom and the Pac 12 suffered from being competitive top to bottom. So while playing Texas & Oklahoma regularly would be exciting. I don't know what the benefits would have been. I do think the Pac-12 would still be around today.

The secondary ought to have a better year as they shouldn't be quite as worried about filling gaps in the line, or trying to tackle guys running at full speed through our front seven, as I expect our linebackers and edge guys to make a lot more tackles this year.

A USC corner is on an island . They get underrated . I watched the 2004 Oklahoma game. The score could have been a lot worse . First time I remember one of Pete's teams being nice . The difference in the rosters was significant. Pete could evaluate talent let's hope the current staff has the same standards. You started for Pete you start on the NFL. I am one that believes USC will have no problem with Big ten teams other than Ohio st. I don't count Oregon .

After the dirty Tillery head stomp on TWO of our injured players and getting a gold star from our next HC opponent, I swore off going back there again and no longer watch "Rudy" I would be totally fine with not playing those lucky assholes again. I understand your "what if," not being a contemporary back then, my biggest "what if" is if Pete had not forced Chow out in favor of Lame. Had we not been the NZAA's bitch, we would have been the biggest of all-time. During that win streak we asked ourselves how and why we would ever lose a game again some day. Don't talk about VY or the shorthorns again!

The high schools in the MidWest run the ball so if they go to teams in the Mid West they already know about the running game. USC will have to be coached up on defense and offense to compete in the running game.
