@@pauliecabs I have been following since the begining as we bought our Barchettas at the exact same time, and i have done bascally the same steps as yours to make it pass the inspection, I was luckier and it went through like a charm, I seriously hope you find the answer to your issue, and even let you know if i someday hit a possible solution
Thanks for watching! I think it must be the ABS module. There's not really anything else it can be! I'm determined to get it fixed and through the inspection.
Hi, great videos and subscribed to your channel. I'm a bit late to this but had the same ABS problem with the 2Si unit in my Alfa 916 Spider. You need the SMART examiner and software to interact with the 2Si which is/was unfortunately Fiat/Alfa/Lancia main dealer only. I was fortunate and had access to one so made the diagnosis, swap out and subsequent bleeding etc. pretty straightforward. Very tempted by a barchetta for my next project!
Thanks for subscribing. Glad you like the videos. I'm a complete amateur so it's all a voyage of discovery for me. I swapped out the ABS unit for a new one and bled the brakes myself. It got through the inspection ok...eventually! I don't think there's anyone down here that would still have the Fiat Examiner software which is a shame. I went to a Bosch service centre and they didn't have it.
@@pauliecabs Thanks for the reply and I'm an amateur too, I was just lucky and have got to know an Alfa/Fiat/Maserati indie near me and he kindly lent it to me from his vast collection of obsolete main dealer test gear. I'm glad this worked out so easily for you, I had to use all of the Examiner functionality to bleed mine fully. Love the car btw, great project.
Hi, check out the various threads on UK barchetta forum re brake balance issued connected with pressure splitter . Maybe you've already done that, but various owners have unbalanced pressure
Hi, I own a ‘97 barchetta and really appreciated your video! Question: did you use only the free software version in this video? Also is it possible to reset an airbag warning light with the free version (happens sometimes when seat is repositioned)? Keep on working on your b. it’s inspiring. Frank (Be)
I did use the free version but I don't know about resetting the airbag light, sorry. I will be fitting a new steering wheel soon without an airbag so it's something that might come up!
Nice video, running Windows in a Mac always make me giggle. I got also the ECU Scan but because a error in the airbag, very common when you disconnect the airbag sensor underneath the passenger seat with the battery connected. If worked for me just fine. Question: Does your electric antenna works? And the clock on the dashboard? See ya!
Lol I need Windows & Mac so have them both on the one machine! I'll remember that about the sensor in case I disconnect mine, thanks. Clock doesn't work properly will need to replace (or repair??) at some point. Mine didn't come with the antenna. I have a nice rubber stopper in the antenna hole :-(
Good Evening, I'm Fiat Barchetta fan. On my Barchetta, from 1998, I have a problem. The Key Code sensor remains on and the engine is not starting. This problem is recent from just a couple of weeks. I'm not use the car during winter. Thank you very much for your help.
Do you have the owners handbook? There are instructions on page 84 on how you can perform an emergency startup. If you don't have this then email me and I will send you a copy.
Thanks I have the exact 1997 same model and was searching this injection ECU plug for a long time. I found a yellow one in the passengers leg but it does not fit the 3 pins adaptor so I guess this is not the good one
i have a 99' barchetta and a yellow cable at the same space, it is a 3 pins with 2 pins really connected (GND+KLINE), i am pretty sure it's the good "OBD" cable, but with a vagcom cable, adapter & software i get nothing, no connection to ECU, i am still looking for a solution.
Hello, I bought the kit to connect to the control unit of my 98 fiat barchetta. But I can't configure the USB port with the supplied software can any of you help me?
Looks like you ordered the VAG KKL USB cable, did you have to install any drivers for this as mentioned on the gendan website? I am too wondering whether you can reset the airbag light with the free version of multiecuscan. From one of the comments it looks like it's possible.
The Genden product code is VAGUSB. Sorry can't remember exactly which drivers I used but I remember it being a bit fiddly. I might do another video sometime of the just the software installation from scratch. I think the free version will reset the airbag. If the seatbelts have pretensioners I think you will need to use paid for version.
Do you HAVE to connect the red cable to the battery positive terminal? Or does ot work without it since the pc has its own power? I failed connecting today, but I did not connect the red cable because I thought you would only need that for a scanner that doesn have its own power
Nice video that you succeed to diagnose your barchetta. I have a question about that. I own a yellow barchetta from 1997 and also diagnosed it with MultiEcuscan. My engine has sometimes difficulties when idling. I found out that the engine is running rich only at idle. The lambda integrator and FRA parameter show negative values which means that about 10% less fuel is injected than it should be. When I rev the engine the parameters are going to normal values. May I ask you what your values are from the lambda integrator, FRA parameter and air quantity on idle when the engine is warm? Than I can compare it with my barchetta. I suspect the MAF sensor, which is about 3.6 gr/s at idle. I would really appreciate your answer.
Thanks for your comments. It's been a challenge to get the sound levels right. I've started using a microphone in recent videos so hopefully things will start to improve!
