The colors you were choosing are fabulous. Love them. I heard you say you lived in Washington? Is that Washington State. I was just curious because I live in Washington outside of the Seattle area.

Love your ideas! I;m doing the GPS Kickoff 2024. About the denim print - I see how you made it, but I still have a question. Could you have pulled a print after brayering the paint on, pressing the denim into the plate, then fixing the colors? In other words, why did you have to add white paint to pull the print? Still trying to understand soe of the finer points of gelli printing. Thanks!
@CreatedandMadeStudios
@CreatedandMadeStudios 8 дней назад
Hi there! Normal acrylic paint starts to dry very quickly and by the time I finished the blue, that green was probably already dry. So, since you can't pull paint that has already dried, I added another layer over the top to pull everything. Even if I am unsure whether the paint is still wet enough to pull off, I have learned its better to just wait and add another layer on top to pull the print. That is better than ruining your print by having only half of it pull off. That's the worst. Let me know if you have any other questions. Thank you!!
@kristinf8092
@kristinf8092 8 дней назад
@@CreatedandMadeStudios Thank you so much for your reply. That makes sense. What I have trouble wrapping my head around is how it works to add a layer of paint in a different color and then be able to pull the print with the original colors on the plate intact.
@CreatedandMadeStudios
@CreatedandMadeStudios 8 дней назад
@@kristinf8092 Its hard to envision it - but if you watched Elisabeth St. Hilaire's lesson on translucent and opaque paints it sort of helps you get it. What goes on the plate first is what you see on top when you pull the print. The blue jean image along with the blue and green paint are what's visible as those were the first things I put on the plate. The white paint is behind those layers. Because the first two layers are opaque enough, they show up even though it looks like we covered them with white. Not sure if that helps at all LOL
@kristinf8092
@kristinf8092 8 дней назад
@@CreatedandMadeStudios Yes - this really helps. Thank you so much, Shawna. I need to rewatch Elizabeth's video - I'm still new to this and have not worked with translucent paints yet. Thanks again!

Is it possible to print on the fabric itself?
@CreatedandMadeStudios
@CreatedandMadeStudios 10 месяцев назад
Hello, sure you can gel print directly on fabric! Acrylic paint is pretty permanent on its own but, just in case, you may want to mix the acrylic with a fabric medium. Liquitex makes one :)

Great ideas!! I’ve done the one with jeans and actually made a second print of the pocket which I put on top of the first one using foam tape so that I could put a gift card into the pocket (idea from Natasha Foote)! It came out so great that I made several just to have on hand!! Thank you for your ideas too!!💕

Love your videos, creativity and narration. Question. I'm new to gel painting and usually make stationary (cards). What do you use your creations for? I plan to use it to make cards.
@CreatedandMadeStudios
@CreatedandMadeStudios Год назад
Hello and welcome!! I use my prints for anything I would use other decorative paper for. I also have made cards, journal covers, ripped them up and used as collage, made decorative boxes, bookmarks, art journal page backgrounds, tags, I die cut them...etc! Basically whatever papercrafting thing I can make, I can use gel prints to make it. If I have an end goal in mind, I would choose an appropriate paper to print on that would work for that goal. Otherwise, I print on text weight paper (anything from 20lb - 100lb text) as I find it the most versatile for my needs. Hope that helps :D

I'm so impressed with every video of yours...you are SO creative. I'd like to ask. when you put the first coat of black paint then lay the play doh in it....do you wait for the black to dry before adding the next colors? I'm new to learning gel printing and I know that question sounded dumb, but still had to ask. sandy
@CreatedandMadeStudios
@CreatedandMadeStudios 8 дней назад
Hello! Yes, you wait for the first layer to dry before adding anything on top of it. It is not a dumb question, I get it a lot. That must mean I don't show that part of the process sufficiently! Thank you!
