Awesome video, and tool to have. Moving forward what would be the next tool to look up the vin number like you mention in your video. Keep up the great work and videos.
Brother, can u pls tell me from where I could manage to install pip/pip2 for kali(5.4.0)-2020.1b? Python2.7 is pre-installed in this kali but kali is showing pip/pip2 not found.
What is the best application to look up information based on the VIN? This was referenced in the video but I don't recall the actual name. Any suggestions? BTW great videos Kody!!!!
Crap I need to really update skiptracer at some point, working on python3 version and have to fix alot of stuff that some of the sites pulled down after skiptracer came out (i.e. date of birth etc)
Will it work in Norway? and it would be cool to run this on a raspberry pi together with something like this magpi.raspberrypi.org/articles/anpr-car-spy-raspberry-pi
its important if your building your own tools like that with python. To install them in a virtual env you'll have to bring it up every time you run the tool, but it will allow you to pull all the depends and keep your system safe!
Please please revisit this. I can not get this to work since python2 is depreciated on kali Linux. I've installed pyenv. But there is something wrong with the requirements.txt. It maybe on xillwillx side. If anyone in the comments can point me in the right direction. That would be greatly appreciated.
Been following for a while. Just wanted to say I appreciate your videos (content and production quality). You do great work, and I always learn something useful. Keep crushing it. Thanks for the assist!
@@Jon-dh3ki nah thats not what it is. Hes scanning for vulnerabilities. Blinking inhibits milliseconds of scanning or vulnerabilities. He did away with it when he sudo apt updated his brains os
Doesn't work. Installed Python 2 & 3. Optimized them. Did pip install futures. Always got this: No module named '__builtin__' Traceback (most recent call last): File "skiptracer.py", line 4, in from plugins.menus import menus File "/home/x/skiptracer/plugins/menus.py", line 13, in from plugins.namechk2 import NameChkGrabber File "/home/x/skiptracer/plugins/namechk2.py", line 12, in from urllib import urlencode ImportError: cannot import name 'urlencode
It would be interesting to integrate this osint script with an open source license plate reader. Maybe could pipe the plate number automatically and pull info on the fly? Would be an interesting 🤔 project. Openalpr + script
Doesn't appear that this software is maintained any more seems like a lot of good software is disappearing fast. As things get worse around here this a capability i could really use
i got this error: Traceback (most recent call last): File "skiptracer.py", line 4, in from plugins.menus import menus File "/home/kali/skiptracer/plugins/menus.py", line 12, in from plugins.haveibeenpwned import HaveIBeenPwwnedGrabber File "/home/kali/skiptracer/plugins/haveibeenpwned.py", line 9, in import simplejson as json ImportError: No module named simplejson
Read the traceback. It says at the python file plugins/haveibeenpwned.py line 9 there's no module name simplejson. Go to python3 interpreter and check if you have the module: import simplejson. If you don't, pip3 install simplejson.
Step 1 clone the git repo Step 2 install the requirements.txt Step 3 Run the skiptracer,py You are on step 3 move back one space and try again. read requirements.txt ___very___ carefully look for json
Im always intrigued by all these things I get introduced here. Like in this video, for ex, I dont mind if it doesnt work for me. This has gotten me interested in python web scraping. Theres always a lot to take away from your channel. Thanks a lot kody
Anyone have success in actually getting a plate back? Everyone I have ran hasn’t come back with anything even after the bug mentioned in the video to get results. Just curious.
ran “python skiptracer.py” and got the resulting error: Traceback (most recent call last): File “skiptracer.py”, line 4, in from plugins.menus import menu ImportError: no module names plugins.menus Can anyone help me w this?
If you're just after a VIN, in Australia there are publicly available state government created apps to check registration status of any vehicle including it's VIN. They're really intended to be used on your own vehicles to check your registration details but they work just fine on any random plate number. No CLI required it's just public information.
If I got this to work (kind of) on my PC, do I still have all the files I need somewhere? I am on win10 64 and using python 3.8. I did get the Skiptracer splash screen but anytime I would press the numbers, I would go to the appropriate screen but could never do anything after that. If someone could help me re-install on a win7 32bit system (or virtual machine.. whichever I decide to do), I can share the files I have (you'll have to tell me how to get them to you and where they're at).
Make sure you have Python 2.7 and pip installed correctly on the system. Then execute the full command "pip install -r requirements.txt" from inside the skiptracer directory.
@@ireallyreallyreallylikethisimg yeah just not in the same way it was years ago. quite smol nowadays. ima go open up some warez now, just to watch some intros lol
when running: sudo pip install -r requirements.txt i get: ERROR: Could not find a version that satisfies the requirement pprint (from skiptracer->-r requirements.txt (line 28)) (from versions: none)
Ridiculously great content, keep it up. However at around 7:35 you mention its great if you have python3 installed on your system, did you mean to say python2? Speaking of that there were a few challenges to getting the python2 modules installed, I think most of mine were overcome using the "python -m pip install " or requirements.txt. They typical sudo pip install failed but seems to be tied to the deprecated and ending support for python2.
@Evil Component Correct. If your looking for personal data from the use of Skiptracer then good luck. If you have the plate in the first place its likely you know enough about the car or vehicle to make looking it up in Skiptracer a waste of time, in most instances. You're better off looking for a Darkweb DB or befriending a cop who has access to the DMV then using this application.
I tried to install requirement.txt and it gives me the error “could not find a version that satisfies the requirement requirements.txt” does anyone know a fix to this?
I get this error when trying to install requirements.txt ERROR: Could not fun a version that satisfies the requirement requirements.txt (from versions: none) ERROR: No matching distribution found for requirements.txt EDIT: I fixed this problem now I am getting this error when I try to open the file Traceback (most recent call last): File "skiptracer.py", line 4, in from plugins.menus import menus File "/home/kali/skiptracer/plugins/menus.py", line 5, in from plugins.fouroneone_info import FourOneOneGrabber File "/home/kali/skiptracer/plugins/fouroneone_info.py", line 5, in from plugins.base import PageGrabber File "/home/kali/skiptracer/plugins/base.py", line 4, in import requests
@@d35t1201 so, me being a total noob to this, I will just find python3 and install it? Are there different versions of python3 or is it basically, Python3 is Python3? You know, like Linux, so many different versions and then you have shells on top of the versions. thanks!
There is a lot that can be OSINT'd in the US, but once you get to Eastern Europe you just stop. None of the tools will work since there are literally zero useful public databases. A lot of people don't use social networks and the ones who do, often times turn their profiles to "private" mode.
I have already installed python 2.7.18 so i omit the step and continue, at the end I got this message while trying to run it: "ImportError:No module named request" I need some help here
