I find these videos so much fun to watch. Where I live, there are no traditional ‘computer stores’, so finding deals is limited to online resources. Living vicariously through the parts hunts. 😂
That white case actually almost matches my Thermaltake s100 snow case perfectly. Even the front IO is the same, down to the available ports and the power button design. The black around the tempered glass edge is also the same, cool!
My best deals so far have been a 50$ 2060S in perfect conditions, a Snowblind case for 50$ (side panel is a monitor!!!) and lastly a 2600x and 16gs of RAM for 50$! Lucky number 50!!!!!!!
Awesome videos mate. Glad to hear you are doing well with your health. I had to lose a lot of weight back in 2020 and found that diet was the biggest change I had to make along with augmenting with exercise. Life-changing experience. Keep it up man you got this
PC Parts are a little cheaper now, but I wouldn't say that they are cheap (at least it is not the case in my country). In "rich" countries hardware is cheaper and wages are higher. Which means, that you need to work a lot less to buy something, than in "poor" countries.
The $37 motherboard was the gem of your picks, today. In the US, Ryzen 5 - 4500 is right at $70. Add in super cheap RAM and NVME for a super nice bargain build.
if I remembered correctly, that "knockoff" NZXT like case you bought came from a company called Darkflash, which is usually making budget pc components like cases, fans or psus
That Coolermaster at 1.00 minute was a Cosmos II, not a Storm. It even has Cosmos written on the lid for gawdsake! Got one sitting next; at $45 I'd take it. Depending on condition of course; the original was $350.
Great video! One of the places I didn't know about and will try to hit up next time I am out as I need a new GPU soon. I might wait until the next batch of AMD GPUs get released though.
Between the two 14 cores... get the E5-2690v4! The E5-2690 v4 can do 3.2GHz all core (2.9GHz AVX all-core) 135W The E5-2680 v4 can do 2.9GHz all core (2.8GHz AVX all-core) 120W
Dude you have to build a balling team red build in that case! I'd love to get my hands on one of those but looking over the used seller sites that thing is a no show, congrats on your score!
The best gpu deals for me are vega 56’s 1070 ti- 1080 performance for $90 Titan xp’s are cheaper than 1080 ti’s where I am like $170-180 usd. Rx 5700xt is a little behind the Titan but for $140-150 it’s great. Rx 470s are $35 lmao
You were smart to have avoided the CM Cosmos, that case is a pain to cool, too huge of a case to be properly ventilated using 120mm fans. That case was meant to have custom loop setup
I’ve picked up 2 3060’s for $200 each. Both like new. One of the guys I bought off of said it was bottlenecking his 12600k and he upgraded to a 3060 Ti 🤨. Hope your doing well!
@@Stikkzz Yeah MSI Ventus 2X was only a month old. The guy thought it was bottlenecking his 12600K because he was using some bottleneck calculator online at PC Builds website. The other one came out of a prebuilt Asus Dual Mini looks brand new. I actually really like the smaller 2 fan 3060’s.
@@brianrobinson3961 Ignorance is bliss and helpful in your case. I bought six 6600XT Red Devils for $128 each. $250 for a 6700XT. $483 for a 6900XT Asus Tuf.
That case is a Darkflash DLM 22. I've bought the DLM 21 (which is the same except with a mesh front) several times for customer builds because it looked good and was cheap, but they both appear to be discontinued now.
GPU prices are definitely coming down but I agree that these deals you need to look around a bit. Recently acquired 7x GTX 980tis for 450 NZD used in a rendering farm, definitely got lucky on that deal lol.
The 4500 is very weak compared to a 3600. It has only about half the cache and I think I remember that it's even an older architecture than the 3600. I may be wrong on the architecture but I remember Steve from GN ripping on the 4600g and the 4500 very hard because they were so much worse than the 3600.
Hey Brian, is it possible for you to do an Ali express pc parts buying guide for 2023? Wanted to know what red flags to look out for when browsing on there and how to go about actually having stuff shipped. Thank you for the content and keep doing what you do!
Used pc parts hunts are my favourite videos. Do you bring the purchases back to Australia or are you planning on selling them locally? Also, I miss your intro videos, they always give me a good mood. :)
For me the best deal was the steel series motherboard, great deal. I was able to get a RTX 2070 super for £200 for my nephew, he had a GTX 970 and mainly games in 1080p a bit overkill but he will be fine for the next 4/5 years fingers crossed.
I have been picking up GTX 1060 TI,s here in the UK for £65. That’s roughly $54 US. As for motherboards, finding it very hard to get good deals here in the UK.
I would really want that AMD / ATI case for the novelty. My first *real* build - not hand-me-down parts or pieces here or there, was an AMD Phenom II X4 965 BE paired with a Sapphire Radeon HD 4870. I almost bought the Cooler Master HAF AMD/ATI edition.
Thanks for these videos, they really help me gauge what the market is like. Always excited to see x99, and in my area I've been having really good luck as well. I recently picked up an asus x99 ws for just $50 becuase a couple dimms didn't recognizing ram, but nothing a tech yes pin cleaning couldn't fix.
Did cleaning the pins fix your RAM issue? I recently picked up an ASUS X99-A board and it gives returning error code 53 (memory controller error) no matter which RAM i use or which lot I put the RAM in.
@Mr. Arocena's Tech bent pins? Usually that's what causes that. If you have broadwell and old bios that can happen too. Cleaning the pins is always a good idea but you have to be careful
Long time fan here, wanting to sell off a 6700k Z170 system if you're interested! We can figure out a fair price for shipping from Osaka to Chiba. LMK!
From the logo of that NZXT knockoff, I remembered seeing that offered at my local listings sometimes. That looks like a Darkflash DLM22 Micro ATX case. It'll be interesting to see your review of it.
Yesterday I bought a full system (no SSD) for about 140 usd. Generally, where I am in Northern Europe, parts are 25-35% more expensive than US, as far as I can work out (VAT and slower, smaller market. It's a 1060 3gb; I7 2600k; Gigabyte GA-Z77-UD5H; 850W gold PSU; 1tb HDD; 4x4gb 1600 RAM; 120mm Tower cooler; in an old, louzy case... I'm pretty happy with that. I'm currently looking for a used 3-, 4- or 5000 series Ryzen chip to put in a motherboard I'm changing out of my personal build. Trying to find a good deal there, but seems like that market isn't ready for the sweet deals yet.
Really liked the first AMD-logo case that looks like it has a Blue-Eyes White Dragon on it. Give the case a little blue-led inside and you could go for a Yu-Gi-Oh! build of sorts
I had no idea you were in Japan! As a Japanese-American, this is some really interesting insight into the Japanese PC market. Thanks for the ever-fun vids!
Speaking of rare computer cases, i own the rarest nzxt case, the nzxt h400i blue and im on the hunt for an h200 blue. The 500 blue and 700 blue are super common but the 4 and 2 seem to be limited, and the cases are long since discontinued
Did the two BluRay drives come with that ATI themed case? If so, you got even more of a bargain. Those will sell on the used market each for more than you paid for the case if I'm not mistaken.
Picked up a Shappire Nitro+ Vega 64 for £160 and an ASUS Strix OC Vega 64 OC for £116 and both cards are working fine and a massive upgrade over my ASUS Strix RX480 and Powercolour R9-280, and Vega 64 has similar performance to the 6650 or 6700 cards that way more expensive
Ryzen 4500 for $70 new on Newegg today. AM4 motherboards still overpriced but not hard to find Ebay sellers with a bunch of the same model for sale. --- Thoughts on storage? Seems like for any reasonable build that buyers are now needing/wanting 1TB+ as a minimum because of the size of newer games. --- Also, do you think that the 1060/1660/2060 (which are bread-and-butter for used deals/builds) are becoming unattractive to buyers due to the 6gb of VRAM? Seems like a lot of the more recent poorly optimized games are really beating up these cards.
Cant wait for the E5-2690 v4 video, if you do one. Ive got an x99 with a 6950x in and i wonder if how that Xeon would compare for productivity stuff (use unreal, houdini, blender, etc). MIght be owrth picking one up and seeing how it all runs.
Hi Brian is a xeon e5-1630 v3 any good for budget esport gaming? I can pickup an old HP workstation z440 for €150 including e5-1630v3, gtx970, 8gb ram, 500gb hdd. Add ssd and ram and I should be done for ~€200.
I picked up an Asus ROG Strixx RX 5700xt for 200 euros back in November. I kinda regret buying it though. It has terrible temps. It's a known issue with this model, but I can't get it fixed. Tried repasting and used washers and everything and I still get temps in the 90s with hotspot temps hitting 115c.
Here in the northeastern US all 20- series cards besides the 2080 ti can be had for incredible deals. $150-$200 on 2070 supers-2080s consistently. 2080 supers are usually $250-$300 and 2080 ti’s usually go for $400+. Used 30 series cards except maybe the 3060 for less than $250 are still a rip off. Definitely the 2080 super for $200 might be the hardest hitting bargain around here. In terms of Radeon definitely less popular but RX 580s and 70s usually go for like $70-$80. Probably the best value 10 series card here is the 1070 which you can reliably find on marketplace for less than $100
That B450 Steel Legend board was a great pickup. One of the best deals I picked up this month was a full ASUS ROG Strix PC (Ryzen 7 3700x, with 16GB RAM, RTX 2070 Super, 512GB SSD, 2TB HDD with case and PSU) for around $500 USD. And just today picked up a B450 Aorus Elite motherboard with Ryzen 5 3200G and 8GB RAM for $89 USD.
GPU's have dropped heaps in NZ too mate. 1070's for under $150nzd, 2060 supers about 200. There's even a few 3060ti's for around 400. Not sure if the remaining mining gpu's will run out before the 3000 and 4000 series come down in price. I reckon it's a win-win for everybody who doesn't want or need rts or 4k. You can put together an 8th-12th gen setup with a 10 or 20 series card for last years starter pc prices. I just picked up a 980ti for 110 bucks and an i3 10105 and cheap ddr4 mobo for 150. This time last year they would have been an easy $600 altogether.
Looking forward to the x99 xeon review, could be fun to compare them on the motherboard you just picked up compared to a middle of the road china motherboard.
The 5960X was for sure the best deal, Iceberg tech made a video showing how it olds up in 2023, and it's great, as strong as 3600, with quad channel and cheap ram, it's great.
Bought a RX580 8gb from Aliexpress for £45... plus a couple quid for some phase changing thermal material, 590's just under £60 on Ali at mo, allegedly refurbished but I am sure new thermal pasta and pads is on the cards plus a thorough cleandown but £45 O.o if it lasts a year I will be happy :D
7:12 I’ve been running mine since late 2020 and it’s still kickin xmp dual channel. The b550 board has also held up very nicely as well. I’m thinking of adding two more sticks of 3200mhz ram for a total of 32 GB, might this be too much for the IMC?
I wish I had an experienced answer to give you, I can only say the closest I got to that was a 1700x running 4 dimms at 3200 Mhz. A bios update actually allowed me to run the speed, even though it was ever so slightly unstable which had me just running the xmp settings for 3000 Mhz.
@@ArtisChronicles I’d like to say Ryzen 3000 has a better memory controller but it’s dodgy at best and is essentially just luck. I could try but I don’t want to kill my IMC. 16 GB is honestly enough but when good games come out that need more than 16 I’ll consider the upgrade, I just find it annoying troubleshooting memory on Ryzen and prefer to fuck with it as little as possible lol
Same around the UK mate, 2600xs are going for less than £30 here but the boards went up from like 30 for a brand new a320 off amazon to around 70-80 within last 6 months
Mobo's are virtually the only part holding it's price. Crazy prices they're asking in NZ here for almost anything 2nd hand. 460/560/660's are like gold, even half decent 510/610 boards are hard to get cheap.
Hello.. I just bought red devil rx5700xt.. But sadly i didnt know about legacy and uefi.. And this model require uefi system which my x58 + x5675 didnt have.. Do you have any idea on how to make this gpu works without buying a new mobo+cpu?..
Oh Yeah! The X99 Mobo's have Quad Core Mem! The best! I had my MSI X99A SLI PLUS mobo with my 5930k cpu /32 GB RAM 4x8GB 3200Mhz . Loved it. I upgraded last year. I brought my memory over to my new PC. i710-700KF. Stable with noctua cooler DH15 Chromax @ 5.15Ghz, (Same memory sticks from my old rig. lol), MSI MEG Z490 unify mobo, but with 2 NVME's etc. and a 3090 EVGA Kingpin. In an old phanteks p600s case
I'm surprised at the performance Phil's computer lab got out of a Maxwell based M6000 with 12 GB ram. I wonder how well the Titan XP has aged? They are fairly cheap now.
@@pokepokepoke64 there were a couple of different Titans in that gen. It's always hard to tell if it's the faster titan or the slower titan. One is pretty close to the 1080 ti and the other is a good bit faster. Both should have aged pretty well.
@@campbellwilson3043 That's an awesome looking card! If you have time to share results, then I'm always down to hear them. I know how valuable time is. Have a great weekend!
