I think it provides a deeper nuance that lesser songwriters can’t even approach: He probably knows some cops, and knows that many played football: You have to be physically big and strong to be a cop because you’re physically fighting people sometimes. He knows that many of these dudes used to play football.

Jeremiah...Not certain if you read these comments. I strolled through your profile and noticed much of your videos posted are related to writing. You look young in your picture but you could be as old as dirt (like me) . Here's hoping your pursuit is a writing career or perhaps you've "arrived".. The post you wrote is phenomenal. My dad was a journalist and mom was an English teacher. The result was I learned a thing or two. If your chosen path is to be a writer, or you've arrived, it's no surprise to me you're exactly where you should be. Much luck to you and praise too. I'm not some old lady stalker 😆... when I say I'll Google your name and see what comes up. Keep writing. You've found your niche.

The feel was very different But then came the MIGHTY "The Big To-Do" and the DBT's were back bigger and better than ever. Ferocious in fact. That album easily ranks up with their best work. And tour also! And I am looking forward to the new release after hearing this first track for sure!

It's refreshing to hear three guitar players work so effectively together FOR THE SAKE OF THE SONG...and not be fighting for a spot. Very reminiscent of the greater guitar triumvirate days (Welch/ Kirwan/ Spencer - Green/Kirwan/Spencer) of the original Fleetwood Mac. This kind of interplay requires stellar musicianship.

Same here. I JUST discovered this band. Cried for all the years missed not listening. Pulled over one other time when a song floored us driving to St. George Island, Florida for a week long reunion with 5 girls I'd grown up with and we were scattered away from our hometown and just beginning to grow our "adult":lives. All single and no kids yet. Now we are all retired and headed there this September for a week if debauchery...if we're not in bed by ten 🤣. But our life long leader Sharon will rally us by shaming us. Can't wait. Sultans of Swing came on the FM radio. When over we all grew quiet to hear the DJ say...that's Dire Straits playing Sultans of Swing. We hit a record store in Dothan. It was so long ago we had to find em in a phone book's Yellow Pages to buy the cassette tape. We were that determined.

Too good for Rock Hall: Look at those left out: The Smiths Kate Bush PJ Harvey The Smiths made 4 of the best albums in history, and did it in 5 years. The Smiths; Meat Is Murder; The Queen Is Dead; Louder Than Bombs (which was a compilation album of non-album singles that they released while still together). To top it off, they finished by making Strange Ways Here We Come, which was a completely different sound than all the others, and equally as good. There probably has never been a band who did so much in so brief of time. They should have been 1st-Ballot Hall of Famers in 2008, but still aren’t there. It’s hard to wrap your head around why Kate Bush isn’t there. She is a True Artist, musically, and is a Great Dancer to boot. She definitely influenced Tori Amos, Fiona Apple, Sarah Machlachlin, Alannis and probably Madonna. Kate Bush is about as close the world has to a Pure Artist. Polly Jean Harvey isn’t just one of the premier songwriters of her time, she’s also a great Lead Guitarist. She’s as talented as they come. That these 3 “Shoe-Ins” aren’t included makes the Hall a sham to me.

The flip side, at least for me, is that there are always plenty of fans at the gigs in Scotland that would love to dilute the 20 year appearances. And yes, I get it, tours cost an arm and a leg.
