In my eyes, every piece of art that is from someone that isn't alive anymore, should be free and public domain! Certainly when it's only for private usage and there is no money made off it by not the original owner.

The thing about the fairytale character is, when it comes to Disney's copywright on them, they only own the image representing of that specific character, not the character. So if I wanted to create a cinderella cartoon I can, so long as the character does not resemble that of the Disney's Cinderella.

Thanks so much for this video! This topic is very relevant in the information age, and i feel like copyright laws really need to get updated, specifically for various uses on the internet. It has good intentions but goes too far; often it just heavily restricts creativity of many well-meaning artists that wouldn't harm the owners. In many cases such works even promote the actual product indirectly, and getting the content taken down for copyright infringement gets even more frustrating then.

There is a difference between infringement and paying tribute. I say we should be allowed to upload old cartoons and the like in order to pay tribute to the shows we loved and show the companies what was really good and what they used to be to us before they went downhill.

@chipbuster While yes YT now lets you use a CC Licence, that particular CC License claims that all the video content is owned by you (or the videos you used is also listed under the same CC License) so that anyone can edit and use the video content. Since I am using content that is not my own ( ie. Pokemon/Disney ) I cannot give people the right to use it freely. Hope that clears it up :)

GUYS I FOUND OUT HOW TO ACTUALLY CATCH MICKEY! Only works in red and blue! 1. Beat the elite four 2. Encounter missingno but dont catch 3. Catch a level 3 pikachu in viridian forest 4. Raise it to level 13 Now go to safari zone, it will now be COPYRIGHT zone!!!

No, first you beat Blue. Then you complete the Pokédex. Then you fill all boxes except one slot in a specific box, randomly chosen after catching Mewtwo. Then you fight the Elite Four 99 more times. After your 100th win against Blue, you then nickname one of your Pokémon after a Disney character made between 1960 and 2015. Next, you get your dex appraised by Oak exactly seven times. Then you Fly to Viridian City and talk to the old man, having him show you how to catch Pokémon. Then you Surf up and down on Cinnabar Island on the right until you encounter Missingno., then you run. The sixth item must be Nugget, Master Ball, Rare Candy or any TM. Finally, you head to the Safari Zone and run out of steps. When you return, it'll be the Copyright Zone.

@NiceHotCupOfBro Sorry for the late response but thanks for the question! Sadly I'm no copyright expert so I had to do some research. I THINK it would be tried in the US as he is claiming Fair Use under their jurisdiction (though I could be wrong). As for Japan, as far as I can tell there is no defined Fair Use law yet but they are considering it. More like... BUSINESS used LAW... But it failed! (this is because they create the law, but they fail to enforce it upon single individuals. They can make a law, and by that law you ARE punishable, but in all reality nothing will happen to you, there's no way they can put all or even any pirates in jail, they just don't even try.)

deanmullen10's use of the Usain Bolt clip in FHIV: 2000s-2020s was perfectly acceptable. _(it counts as parody since the content is fiction made for entertainment purposes)_ Unfortunately an internet troll working for the IOC didn't care and just recklessly took it down. Copyright is supposed to *promote the progress of science and the arts* and takedowns against that type of content clearly *do not promote artistic progress* at all whatsoever regardless.
